I remember. Hell we were poor and half the time someone's beat up truck wouldn't start after school and we'd rally around it and get it running
We'd play chicken with our pocketknives at recess
just needed a third person to keep an eye out for a wandering teacher who might spot us.
fricking kids today

Yep, add dusting erasers and the smell of the copy machine papers (mimeograph?).
Fun times.

I remember when you could smoke on a airplane.

There was no air conditioning in schools back then. We used to take peanut butter and jelly sandwiches because they would keep in a hot locker.
We had a smoking area that required a note from your parents to enter. We also had A/C (I went to HS in the late 70's.)

I remember when Cadillacs had four ashtrays with lighters in them.

Our smoking area was across the street from the school on the sidewalk.

There were no smoking areas my freshman year at high school. You could just light up as soon as you walked outside from one building to the next. My sophomore year though, smokers were relegated to a paved area between buildings 4 (industrial arts shop) and 5 (art and drafting) at the far end of our high school campus.
I think they finally did away with smoking on campus sometime in the late 1990s, several years after everyone in my family had graduated and left the state.

Oh wait. No fricking way you put your real name in your user name.

We had a creek the ran through the middle of campus. We could smoke on the other side. We mostly just smoked on the bridges going over the creek.

Same. Called it the smoke tree.

Our high school principal walked around the parking lot and gave everyone detention who had a visible bic lighter in their car. The school was old enough to still have a now unused smoking section.

I graduated HS in 87. We had a smoke hole and a dip hole.
