This week I will take 6 flight segments:
-BTR-ATL-CAE
-CAE-ATL-XNA
-XNA-ATL-BTR

I have two different onsites with partners. I am in healthcare consulting. I love what I do and have done it well over a decade. My highest flight count one year was 229 flight segments. That was insane.

Preach! I was ambassador for a few years. Now I am fine with lifetime platinum on Bonvoy while my wife has diamond at Hilton. I just pick whichever is easier.

I collect about 700-800k Chase Ultimate Rewards points per year by buying inventory for our business, and usually just cash out every couple months.

You likely need to get a cash back card then. Are the purchases getting you multiple points per dollar or is it 1x? If you're cashing them for 1c then you might do better with a 2x-3x cash back card.

Or, if there's a good transfer deal, I'll do that and we'll take a long weekend somewhere.

Man, you could do so many badges trips in Biz class earning that many points a year.

Right now I have 1.5mm Chase and 1.5mm Amex and that's after doing business class flights in the last year to S. Africa on Qatar, Europe on Air France, New Zealand on Hawaiian, Fiji on Fiji Air, and Australia on Hawaiian. Yes, it takes work but the trips I have taken would've cost insane $ and instead we just paid some small fees.

None. I've flown a grand total of 4 times in my 72 years on this orb. Once to boot camp then back home when they determined I should not have been considered for enlistment due to a congenital shoulder injury they wanted no responsibility for.

Then once from N.O. to Jackson, MS and once from Houston to N.O. with both those flights being short hops.

Not afraid of flying, but would rather drive or ride my motorcycle to and from places. I have no desire to travel abroad either. I haven't done it in all this time, so why start now.
You ever get to Shelbyville, by any chance?

150K. Used 200K last summer for 4 round trips to the West coast. I pay for other trips if it is a better deal with cash.

Same with my business. I get around $3k-4k a year in flights/hotels with my capital one card, and I could probably double that if I started using my card for the small purchases instead of just the big thousand dollar purchases. Traveled a good bit with my wife over the past three years. New born baby though, so we're about to start hoarding the points for a bit.

If you're a business owner and not utilizing a reward card of some sort, start doing so.

Sometimes the sucky layover isn't worth saving the $600.

Yeah, so to clarify, we spend $350-400k on the Ink Business Premier, so we collect 700-800k points and it’s just a straight $7-8k in cash back… The drawback on the Business Premier is that it is strictly a cash back card, or I can buy stuff through the Chase Portal. I can’t transfer points.

So I guess my dilemma is I can just keep guaranteeing myself 2+%, explore other companies (Amex, Citi, etc.), or drop back to whatever Ink card is 1.5% and play the transfer game. I’m also a Sapphire Reserve holder, so if I drop back to the 1.5% card for the business, I can transfer business points to my Reserve account where the redemption value is 1.5x, so technically I can get 2.25% back I think?

I’d contact your airline. I had the same thing happen with a ton of Hilton honors points, and was able to buy them back. It wasn’t super cheap, but it still made sense financially to do it. Your airline might have something similar.

It's just going to come down to travel vs cash back for you first. There's cards you can get more than 2% cash back by also banking with them. BoA has a good one as an example. If you want to travel then Ink Biz Preferred could be better. It depends on what you're buying. You may need a couple cards. Example, the AMEX Biz Gold gives you 4x points on your spend for things like advertising and dining. There's other biz expenses as well. The Chase IBP gives 3x for shipping and internet/cable/phone. And your Reserve, which i have, is a great card for travel and has 3x but does have some overlap with the IBP so just check a few cards and see where you'll get the most points, if you go travel instead of cash back. If you don't mind me asking, what do you spend most of that 350 to 400k on?

Nah, I always check out the Louisiana gates to see if I know anyone. Jindal, Lt Billy, and Boosie are on the BR flights often.
