I just bought a Honda through Honda Financial at 0.9% APR. Your credit must really suck.

Instead of calling your credit union, he went and took a shite and came back to tell you that you were denied. I'm certain he's laughing about it now.

I have not read the whole thread. Can you direct me to where you posted the GM's name so we can hunt him down and ruin his life? It sounds like the finance guy is a dick too.

Name them and wait for their whole life to magically appear here. Also, we will find the owner and get this shite straight.

This. Plus most cars are financed at almost 0% with good credit.

What kind of score do you need to get "almost" 0%? Or better question, what exact number is almost 0%?

I ask as my wife and I both have scores somewhere around 815-820 or so, and we've never gotten under 2% for a car. I don't consider 2% to be "almost 0%" though.

I will never understand why, when it's painfully obvious people are getting railroaded, they don't walk away. The minute the credit score came back funky, and especially financing at 8%, I'd be gone.

EIGHT FREAKING PERCENT. My credit card isn't even at 8%.

My credit usually chills around 780, and I bought a car a year ago with .90% financing. Technically I would have qualified for 0%, but after negotiating the overall price, I chose the 2k off.

Is it? Buying a brand new car is generally a bad idea, generally because it depreciates so quickly, that you'll never get anything close to your money back at resale.

I don't treat my vehicles as investments, I treat them as vehicles. Unless it's stolen or falls apart, I'm driving it for 10+ years.

My first car buying experience was with a POS Hyundai dealerships in Covington. They must be everywhere. Thank goodness I walked out.

I went into one with my son when he was buying his first car; we walked out too. Bought a Hyundai at another dealer.

I would have called the credit union myself and talked to them. If I found out they lied about it then I would walk out

#1 rule when buying a car go into the deal with financing already taken care of from a 3rd party

There is a little more to it after that. Find your best financing offer with 3rd party and let the dealer try to beat it. Chances are, they will.

Most dealerships do actually pull an auto weighted bureau. You can, in theory, be 750 on a normal pull and under 700 on say equifax auto enhanced.

In any case, they are legally required to peint out his score and give it to him at the time of pull.

He has lower credit. No big deal.

They don't call them stealerships for nothing. If you don't walk in pre approved from your bank and know how much you can afford along without knowing your credit score it is on you. Let me guess the first question they asked is how much can you afford a month? Just chalk this up as a loss learn from it and don't let it happen again.

0% is ran as a promotional offer for some car brands/models. 2017 Toyota Avalon, 2017 Subaru Outback and 2017 VW Passat are currently running 0% @ 60-72 month offers.

It sounds like you learned a valuable lesson in leverage. They knew that you needed a car to get home and once they knew that you didn't have any financing, you weren't driving out of there with anything less than the cornhole special.

The same thing happened to me the last time that I bought a car. As soon as I told them that I had financing through my bank the guy pretended to do some typing on his computer to check rates, low and behold, he was able to reduce the interest rate by 5%.

My bro-in-law is in the car business and loves telling the story about the one time that an old man said to him "Son, do you think I'm stupid?" and he replied "No, but I just had to make sure". Scum bags, all of them.
