How long until we no longer celebrate Columbus Day? by ColoradoAg03It's now Indigenous Peoples Day here in Denver.
Same as Asian/Islander/Pacificer month in the Federal govt.

Vermont has already repealed Columbus Day as has the City of Phoenix, AZ.

Louisiana never did and still doesn't.

True, but his was the one that stuck.
Neither the Chinese, nor the Polynesians established a permanent presence here.
The Irish and Templar expeditions are largely discounted as myth, as are the legendary Egyptian ones.
The only ones that resulted in semi-permanent settlements are the Viking ones, but they couldn't last.

I hope we never get rid of it. I'm sitting at home getting paid for 8 hours.

He didn't land on in Panama, Panama landed in him... Or am I mixing this up with something else?

Last I checked Panama isn't in the continental US.

And Honduras, both of which are not part of the Continental US.

He never made it to North America right? Well.. Did he go to Mexico? If so then I guess he did, but he never made it to what is now the U.S. right?

I'm ok with it going away. It is annoying to have no mail, no banks, and no government offices when the rest of us have to work.
The holiday won't go away, just the name "Columbus Day," which is fricking stupid.
People have been discovering and conquering new lands for thousands of years, but only our country is the one to act like pussies about it.
