I’ve walked out multiple times when they take too long

It’s usually from the waiting room though

15 minutes. Then I poke my head out. Another 5-10 and I am out of there. There are plenty of other docs.

Five minutes tops. Get up and leave if the is longer. These asshats need to learn that our time valuable too!

Seriously, I don't know. Haven't been to a doctor's office since 1982.

I go to UAB for most of my issues (annual physical, ENT, sinus issues, etc). If you’re late they reschedule. I check in 10 minutes early, get called back before appointment, Dr is there within 3-5 minutes and I’m out after our discussions. Best medical care I’ve ever had in America. Probably one of the best parts about living in Alabama.

I did last week.

My appoitnment was at 10:50 at the eye doctor. Routine checkup after a surgery i had a month ago.
Arrived at 10:45. There were 4 other people in the waiting room. One of them was having a conversation on her phone with the speaker loud as hell. You guess it, it was a old white grandma.
I waited in the waiting rrom until 11:25 when the called me back. Did a quick check on my eye that took maybe 2 minutes.
They then brought me to a room and I did an eye test that took maybe 30 seconds b/c i'm still blind.
They then said they didn't have any available doctor rooms so to go wait in this staging area. Waited there until 11:45.
Then i got to go to the doctors room where they said "he'll be in shortly".
Didn't see the nurse or doctor and at 12:20 I walked out the door and left. I had a conference call I had to be on at 12:30 so I simply couldn't wait any more.

My time is valuable as well, and i'm not going to wait around forever to see the damn doctor. Making me wait an hour and a half is ridiculous, and I still hadn't even seen the doctor at that point. I'm sure they'll want to charge me for the visit, and i'm sure as shite not paying that. They should be giving me money back for wasting my time.

Did that once with my current Dr. of Internal Medicine. His first appointment was for 9, so I get there at 8:50, check in and have a seat.

At 9:45 that fricker gets off the elevator in the waiting room in street clothes, takes another 15 minutes before I'm called back to the exam room, sit there another 20 minutes before he walks in.

So, I take this opportunity to tell him that even though I'm retired, I do have things to do during the day and didn't appreciate such a long wait-----especially with having the first appointment of his day.

He apologized and I have made it a habit of not making the first appointment of the day and have not been kept waiting near that long again.

They make you wait long enough to elevate your blood pressure. Then they can put you on a lifetime of pills

Ah, the classic 8:15 appointment with the doctor doing their rounds at the local hospital until 9.

I remember a story my Grandfather told me about this.

It happened in the late 1990s.

He had an appointment for 8 AM and was in the parking lot early before they even opened.

He had to wait in the first waiting room for a hour and half.

Got all his vitals and then had to wait in the second waiting room for another hour before going to a room.

Then waited in his room to see the doctor for like 40 minutes.

Anyway he told the doctor back when he ran his Brick Laying business that if he told someone he was going to meet with them at 8 am he was always there on time. If he had them waiting for 3 plus hours he’d wouldn’t have a business.

Yea I know you’d think a doctor wouldn’t care but this one did, It never happened to my Grandfather again lol.

That’s all I got.

Once I waited with a sick baby for more than an hour. Like close to an hour and a half. I’d checked and they say “she’s coming” several times. I finally started dressing her and the pediatrician walks in. I said we’re leaving. I felt bad but that was crazy. She checked the baby’s ears as I was finishing dressing her .. ear infections. Quickest money she ever made.

That wasn’t typical at all .. but I’d had enough.

It depends on how sick you are. You could stay there until the doctor comes or until you die, whichever comes first. Or, if you are feeling better, just go home.

That’s not bad although I’ve never waited that long.

I remember staying in a West Monroe ENT office longer than that.
But he was older but I trusted him.

Poor man is now deceased.
