Seems like there’s a deadbeat epidemic in this country. I was listening to friend of a friend and she was rambling how the father of her 2 kids was a deadbeat. That he left them to go to another state. That he’s a no good deadbeat who doesn’t support her kids.

Generally, I can tell if someone is a deadbeat with 2 weeks. Someone who doesn’t have future plans, disorganized, can’t hold a steady job, can’t pay his car note, spends all is money on beer, immature. This guy is a deadbeat.

Deadbeat situations can be avoided if women/girls can follow 1 rule....”don’t date deadbeats”. You don’t need to have 2 kids to realize your man is a deadbeat. Don’t put your kids at a disadvantage growing up.

You mean deadbeat dads or deadbeats in general? Plenty of each everywhere.

Not to defend the deadbeat, however you truly don't know what went on inside their home for him to get like that.

Some people just have bad judgement when it comes to dating. They usually have some sort of self esteem issue themselves which leads them to attract bad matches.

I guess this might be a little flippant, and I do understand that life can be a little more complicated than being summed up in one blanket statement. However, I generally have very little sympathy for women who get saddled having children with "deadbeat" men as you put it. They made that decision, and there were definitely signs when they did it.

I realized at the end of college that people at that age are who they are going to be barring an epiphany.

As for meeting someone new, a sample size of being around them 5-10 times gives you all you need to know.

American culture over the past few decades has glorified the trashy behavior of dead beats and made responsible men look like dorks.

Indeed. This is why you don't sleep with someone you don't know very well.

If both sides of a marriage can't provide for a child and what goes along with it on their own they shouldn't have had that child in the first place! To many stay at home moms with no career and dad's knocking it up because "it's the thing to do" and "I love her" out there.

have to agree. i have seen a couple of guys that it doesnt matter if they earn 100k or 10k the woman spends every damn penny on wasted BS and they still have nothing because of it.

i cant blame those guys for just giving up and leaving them.

no excuse for not supporting your kids, but some women are irresponsible and not trust able with your money and you cant make an "adult" relationship work with women like that

The courts and society dont make it easy for a man to gain 100% custody. Its always assumed that the kids belong to the mother and the father is just an estranged paycheck. Until that changes youre going to see fathers run away from their children. Not because they dont love their children but more so because the now ex-wife and sometimes the new boyfriend, makes it impossible to have a relationship with the children.

Its compounded by the fact that most men arent natural nurturers. It takes a lot less to push them away and run them off. Its the mothers job to be the glue of family. Show me a good mother and Ill show you a good husband.

It's not an epidemic, they've always had them. Most them are always on the verge of the next big thing.

I was about to say this. My ex was telling her parents that I was not paying child support. When in fact, I had been paying her more than I was obligated to. She just was milking them for money too.
