How long before books like this are banned in this nation?

I’ve read this book. Lee wrote eloquently and it was a very interesting read. He was not an evil mastermind and to look at him in such a way is very disturbing to me.

Do you understand the difference in the historical significance of a primary source from one of the most influential members of the Civil War and statues put up 60 to 80 years after the Civil War during Jim Crow?

For argument sake I'll take this on...so on OM campus there is a building that was the hospital after the battle of Shiloh...if memory serves me correctly all OM students died in the battle, I believe the number was less than 100..the confederate monument is to the students, not to what they fault for..less than 20% of southerners at the time were slave owners..and most soldiers were not

The reality is that during the Civil War the graduates of the USMA's their allegiance was stronger their home State vs. a National allegiance. It wasn't about slavery.

Yes, I understand the difference. What I’m saying is, I don’t think the people tearing down statues really give a damn about primary sources and before long, we’ll see movements to have them taken off of shelves and off of online book sales.

The fact is that you cannot remove slavery from the Civil War. The Civil War was fought over the issue of states' rights. States' rights to do what? To own people as property. So while the statue or monument may not be glorifying slavery, it will still elicit that response from some people because of its tie to the Civil War. But like I said, I'd like to learn more.

It most likely won't be "banned" in any official capacity, but it and books similar to it will probably start being pulled from shelves.
It very well may be an investment opportunity to ponder.
