load the plane back to front. unload the plane front to back. it's pretty simple.

only reason is if you have a carryon bag and don't want to end up being forced to either check it or have it placed 20 rows behind you (which makes leaving a much bigger PITA than waiting early prior to boarding)

I personally have never had an issue with carry ons. Of course I don't have 20 bags of shite I'm trying to bring with me either. There's always some space either above or to the side of me.

Take the New York to San Francisco on an early Monday morning or a San Francisco to Chicago or Dallas on a Thursday afternoon.

I promise you that carry ons will be an issue.

There is only a “final call” because they are waiting for your dumb arse. Had everyone boarded, they would just close he door and get everyone on their way. Don’t be a dick.

You're making a lot of assumptions about leaving early that are unrelated to a passenger boarding at the T-10 mark from departure. Mainly ATC/Ground Control departure time, ramp access, baggage & cargo loading, crew preparation, etc.

I never fly with checked bags (even internationally). Carryon only, and you best believe I'm getting a carry on spot by my seat.

People that have seats in the back of the plane that put their carry on bags up front instead of over there seat deserve to be shot. Also want to be musicians taking up entire overheads up front with their guitars need to be beat.

I saw one hippie try to put his guitar in first class overhead.

Never understood it. Same type of people get up as soon as the plane stops, even though they don't have anywhere to be. I just wait until it's my turn to go

I always check my bag if Im flying without a change. Flying out of atl I haven't had to have a layover in years, direct to everywhere, Delta.

Something else good about it is watching the rats around the carousel...

And you don't have to stand in the 40 minute rentacar shuttle line... just take your time at baggage claim and the hertz shuttle is wide open with my Mercedes waiting for me in the stall with the key in the ignition.

My goal is to board about 30 seconds before they closed the door.

Earlier this year I got to the gate and walked up to board just as the girl was getting up to close the door to the ramp. Plane started taxiing before I even had a chance to put my seatbelt on. Felt good.

Almost all full/major domestic flights will fill the luggage compartments and if you are boarding at the end of the line with a front or mid level seat assignment, you will likely not have any space around your seat and everyone will hate you.

They may be worried about being at the end and running out of overhead space for their carryon. It happens almost every time I fly.

The one thing about people standing I don't get is when the plane gets to the gate, everyone, including the people in the back stand up and get in the aisle. Even though they can't go anywhere for at least 5-10 minutes while they pull up the jet way and those in the front exit.
