The Bayou Country thread made me specifically think of the women that love bro country and the analogy hits on another art they are often find of: Wine.

I was listening to Hendrix shred one time, when a female friend came in the house with a disgusted look on her face and asked "What is that??". I tell her and then ask what is she likes. I get the expected pop and country responses. We playfully trade barbs and then I hit her with this:

She loves fine wines. I ask what if you were hosting a wine tasting, and this girl tasted this highly acclaimed and expensive cab then announced her disdain for it saying, "That's nasty. You know what is really good?". The girl then proceeds to whip out a box of Franzia ranting and raving about it. She said "I would look at her like she didn't know what the hell she was talking about." I said exactly but she just might not have a refined palate. She might like Franzia and that's fine but it really can't hold a candle to the work and time that goes into making the cab. Florida/Georgia Line is the Franzia of country music. I think it made her think.

Because I was minding my own business when she through a snide comment at me, I'm the snob.

Young women like country music because it’s the only pop music left that still talks about love. They like i because it is both “romantic” and danceable. Most pop and rap is just about sex. Most “alt rock” is sad or not danceable, or is indistinguishable from the pop music just with white british voices instead of African Americans.

Bro country, to women, is seen as fun, romantic music, much like how they viewed bands like Poison and Warrant in the late 80’s.

You're putting way too much thought into this. You like what you like. Other people like what they like. Outside of what you like, WGAF?

Comparing shitty stadium country music to good music is like posting music threads on the OT.

That's a really long winded way of saying major brands cater to the lowest common denominator.

yea she made a snide comment, and you responded in possibly the most snobbish way you could. Not only did you trash her musical tastes, but threw in a wine snob analogy and shite some peoples taste in wine for good measure.

Because it was relatable to her.

Yes but you feel the need to explain why one is superior to another, just like you felt the need to explain to this girl how your taste in music was superior to hers...that's the definition of snobbery to me.

I'm a big fan of craft beer and high end bourbon, and have a few friends who will hang with me and drink mich ultras or jack and cokes. I don't sit there and explain to them why what I have in my glass is superior...I just smile, cheers and enjoy the night.

Sometimes when people try some of the barrel proof stuff I drink they damn near vomit.... we laugh and I just say guess it's not your thing. You could have looked at her and went...hmmm guess Hendrix isn't your thing...but you went another route and it probably came off snobby as shite.
