Sure he’s an admitted proponent of psychedelics and has a side job in mma and is a life long martial artist. But I rarely hear him bring either topic up at irrelevant times
it depends on who his guest is. joey diaz pr duncan its the basis of the podcast.
the knees over toes guy or some phd and it probably wont get mentioned.

Rogan doesn’t try to one up his guests.
My favorite thing about his podcasts.
His ego isn't so great that it ruins interviews.

I feel like he's more wise than intelligent. And he'd probably agree. Also the love/hate for him is spread pretty evenly across the left and right so he's probably doing something right. I like listening to him when I catch parts of his show.

He’s self aware To me that’s a sign of fairly high intelligence

I see him as a guy with a deep immersion of topics and guests he's had on for so long and so often. Someone with maybe a better memory than pure originality. That can make someone intelligent over a long period of time. He's no idiot for sure.

Pretty smart in many ways.

Okay then maybe we should start off:
What are the measures or characteristics of being intelligent/smart?

Anybody who can sit and hold a conversation about something besides the weather or the latest reality show has to be at least above average intelligence. There are legitimately stupid people out there and when you run across one there's no mistaking it.

Sheer IQ - likely an above average. Smart but not the guy that stands out in a crowd
Emotional intelligence- I think likely pretty exceptional at reading a room and connecting with groups.
Think the type that you’d enjoy a meal with not the guy you’d call to solve a real complex issue.
That said he’s had access to incredible minds and really interesting information so pairing that with a good head on his shoulders and ability to connect and he can hold a crowd with the best of them.

Honestly not super "intelligent" but he's willing to listen and discuss shite without (most of the time) getting emotional and looking for a major "gotcha". That's more than you can say for most people these days.

Not especially smart but very curious.

He’s not a good comedian but an excellent conversation leader. He’s what a good journalist should be.

I’ve been really surprised about about how much he knows about random things.
He will have scientists on and hold his own in conversations
Give him credit he has come along way from when he started

He strikes me as being pretty sharp but seems smarter than he is because he is very well prepared. Seems to have great recall of facts and names too, which is pretty impressive for someone pushing 60.
I think he hold back a little with some of his guests though for reluctance of veering into "conspiracy theory" territory or running too afoul of the establishment. There are dots I think he need to try and connect that he leaves dangling too often.

It’s nice to listen to a conversation that’s not screaming. And he doesn’t talk over his guests.
If you asked him he would tell you he learned from the best, Art Bell.

Fwiw as a comedian I don’t ever remember laughing during one of his stand ups. But clearly some find him funny
Saw him headline with Dave Chapelle in NOLA and I thought he was hilariously which I was surprised because I didn’t find any of his specials funny

I think most comedians are pretty smart.
Rogan keeps and open mind with no preconceived ideas and is good at carrying conversations. No agenda to push.

He's got a good bit of common sense to him, is fairly open minded, and can be funny which is another type of intelligence. I think he is a net positive for society.

I think Joe himself will tell you "I'm just a dumb comedian"
