Go watch videos of Andy Elliott. He puts out motivational videos of what it takes to be a car salesman. Dude is a complete badass.

You can work for Ricky Safe and Sound

Don't blame big pharma for that...they're only doing what is providing the greatest boost to their numbers. Blame the doctors who value seeing an attractive female in their office more than they do anyone else who may provide more value to their practice and patients.
yeah you're probably right. but i'll just hold onto my hate for big pharma for now because i hate them for many other reasons too.

Getting into sales is easy. Getting out of sales is the hard part.

In my experience the good ones here seem to love the work more than the money, which is good because they don’t have the time to spend it. Some people are just wired for it. Found out quickly it was not for me.

that has boiler room BS all over it. Avoid that unless you are just desperate for sales experience
What is work experience?

Outside Sales is not easy! It seems to be simple when in reality there really is only a small percentage of people who are good at it.
It takes a highly motivated, self disciplined, organized, person to be really good and even then they might not succeed.
The ones that do though can make a lot of money!!

It’s not all about the money. A friend of mine once sold half a million brake pads. Saved his family-owned business from having to sell out to one of the big box stores

I'm having to totally change careers. 40 years old, no private/corporate experience. Got a buddy that says he can get me a job making 80-100k first year selling commercial ADT alarm systems. Seem legit or am I walking into a trap? It's 100% commission which scares the crap out of me.
No way I would do that for my first sales job when there are places hiring people without sales experience and giving them a 50k salary and car package with earning potential in that 80k to 100k that first year.

Dude… find something you would enjoy. Selling bullshite home monitors to house wives sounds fricking miserable and non fulfilling.

I run a team as a side gig from my medical sales job where my sales team gives free Android tablets to low income families. My best rep is making about $250k, my worst $85k. They basically set up a table at Walmart and give out tablets all day (little more to it). They're making a killing and its very easy to do, straight commission as well

How big does the territory need to be to make enough sales to generate 80-100k in commissions when selling ADT. Slightly above average product, with bad customer support, and one of the more expensive products in the market. More and more people are putting in security systems, but they are going with the cheaper SimpliSafe, Ring, Arlo, Abode... Plus, your market is not going to be filled with a lot of repeat customers. Once you make that one sale, you're done.

You can get into tech sales within a month, but you'd have to start at the entry level BDR stage which usually has a salary of 55k and OTE of 75-85k (OTE = on target earnings = base salary + what you should make if you hit your quotas most people earn 65-90% of their OTE and a few blow way past it). After 12-18 months of that you can get into the SMB AE space which usually pays 60-65k base with 120-130k OTE, then after 2-3 years of that up to mid market which runs 150-220k depending on the company and within about 5-7 years in total can start getting looks for enterprise roles for 220k to north of 300k.
This is fairly accurate. I’m an Account Exec for a fintech company that provides AP software. Our BDR’s make a bit more than that if they are go getters. The lazy ones complain and never hit their numbers
Luckily we have a great product to sell with very loyal customers. We have had some customers for over 20 years
