They won't because the NBA has a CBA negotiated by a union. If the legislators want to move from virtue signaling and symbolic bills into actual meaningful legislation, they are going to have to unwind a lot of the labor laws they promote so much.

shite baw, Senators and Congressmen have tried to step in and run my industry for decades in just about all areas and we're union, hell, Clinton intervened in a labor dispute resulting in a strike within 15 minutes of the strike and made everyone go back to the table, deregulation has been a dismal failure in this racket

ETA: I guess the difference is our industry performs a vital service whereas the WNBA does...just what the hell do they do?

it's stupid to even act like they had an argument in this farce but up until the late 60s it was pretty common for NFL players to have second jobs in the off season to make ends meet, I met a guy that's in the NFL HoF and was on the first two SB championship teams that sold cars in the off season

The first million dollar contract in the NFL didn't happen until the mid 80s.

In MLB the first player to get $1M or more was Nolan Ryan in I think 1979.

A professional sports league takes a long time to build it into what the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL is today.

The WNBA has been around 25ish years and only has 12 teams. And only has a 12 player roster.. Because if they added 3 more players on each team that would be even less money they would make.

But when one league's championship has 231k viewers and the other one has 15.4M viewers that's the only numbers that matter. The NBA has 68x the amount of viewers than the WNBA.

Celebrity Wheel of fortune aired last week had over 6M viewers. In week 14 of the CFB season last year, almost 2x the amount of people watched Tulane vs Navy than the average WNBA game.

Their league is subsidized by the NBA. It is a bankrupt enterprise. Their expenses exceed their income.

Why the MSM keeps ignoring this fact is just another example of how corrupt the media is in pushing an agenda.

The WNBA viewership is literally TVs that just happened to be accidentally left on ESPN

Because its lower than other blocks of boring regular ESPN programming. Meaning people actually finally turned the channel when the WNBA came on.

You see the same shite in tennis. The women bitch about the pay gap. But women only play 3 sets. Men play 5. The men are far more entertaining, athletic, and produce more enjoyable tennis to watch. It’s not that women’s tennis isn’t entertaining and they aren’t talented. But it’s just not as exciting and impressive to watch a woman’s match as it is to watch the mens. Therefore they get paid less. But they still want to bitch.

Germans. This was originally pushed by Vice in their documentary a couple weeks back that the 2 reasons for her being jailed was racism & equity. It had zero to do with her doing illegal shite in someone else’s country.

Pretty much. I would like to know how many of that name are from sports bars that has all live events showing.

What did Dave Chappelle say about women? Their problem is.. They need a man to lead them..

I understand the entertainment value and the supply and demand issue. Hell, I contribute great amounts of money towards it. But I think it’s still a sad state of our priorities that athletes get paid fortunes for playing children’s games when teachers and police and other people who actually contribute to advancements in society are neglected and paid peanuts.

I get it. I get that I’m part of the problem. But it still makes me sad.

Look at the amount CEOs make and what industries many of those CEOs come from.

You are comparing a public (government) job to a huge industry.

Porn stars make a lot more than WNBA players, they also make a lot more than police, teachers, etc.

No BS, someone actually said this in an LPGA golf thread

They’re getting paid 6 figures to play a game. Heaven forbid they have to get a manual labor job like the rest of us poor slobs. Don’t over spend and they’d be set for life.

Players salaries are based on the money the leagues make. People pay for the products they want. People just don’t want womens basketball. It’s really that simple.

And that’s probably too much considering the merch and fan base.

Yes, women who haven't bought a single ticket or jersey and haven't watched a single game on television
