Depends on how much time off I have for the stay and how needed a car is at the destination.

about 6. But that also has to do with how easy it is to fly to a certain city. Like if I drove to Lake Charles for work its about 6.5-7. But by the time I fly to Houston then drive two hours it takes about 5...so in that sense I'd drive the 6.5-7hrs instead of flying.

I love how you cut off the text I put in parentheses where I covered this. Fail.

Depends on the number of people involved.

Me and the wife can handle long car trips OK. The limit of flying is probably 1000 miles if it is just us, as that’s the point at which time is more valuable than money.

Add three kids in and my radius for when driving is an option shortened considerably. Too much arguing because they’re all in each other’s space.

As far as the east coast goes, I’d probably take Amtrak from NYC to any of the places you listed like Philly, Boston, etc. I’ve done Amtrak from Baltimore to NYC and it was a nice quiet ride without all the bullshite involved with air travel.

Don't yall have shuttle flights up in the northeast that are cheap?

But to answer the OP, five hours is my "I'll probably look at flights" starting point.

Yeah, i guess the destination and the reason for going come into play. I've driven to Orlando a lot more than I have flown. But, the drives were with several other people in kind of a rolling party so, the drive didn't seem so bad.

I've driven to Atlanta a few times for recreation. But, i've always flown there when it was work related.

Same could be said for flying depending on layovers, etc.

As for me...depends on the trip.

yep, when factor in getting to the airport 2 hrs early, layovers and getting out of the destination airport which may or not be a short drive to the destination.

6 hours for me. By the time you factor in driving to airport early enough to get through security and all that. It takes you about the same, and driving you have the freedom to stop at a restroom or stretch if needed. Plus I don't mind driving at all.

I enjoy road trips so I’ll drive pretty much anywhere if I’m gonna be there for a few days. I live in swla and I’ve driven all over the place. Oregon, Chicago, Milwaukee, Orlando. I like the me time.

Like 5-7 hours. We drove all over growing up, but I’d rather fly most times. I’ve done Dallas to New Orleans twice, and we made it fun by stopping along the way both ways, but it’s still a long drive.

Lucky to have American HQ here so direct flights are cheap and plentiful.

Anything further than 4 hours I fly.

I want to get to the destination and enjoy my time there, I do not enjoy being in my car for long stretches, thus I fly.

Financially secure, not dumb, definitely lazy when it comes to certain things, but don't think that factors in here.
