If I was him, I would start the song and stop it a few seconds in about every 3 songs just to make the crowd pop and each time say "no not yet"...
And then I would play it last before the encore.

I don't understand why artists don't play a song twice in a set. At least sometimes.

Keith Richards has made that comment several times how the crowd expects some songs to be played but the musicians get tired of playing it constantly every tour.
