re: How far back have race relations dropped since POTUS Obama took office?

I went to high school with a guy who went out of his way to create racial tension. He was a Jessie Jackson type a-hole. Other than that, the school was almost dead even half black half white and I don't remember any problems. We all hung out together sometimes.

I take it none of yall watched OJ Simpson Made in America? Yall forgot the LA riots after the Rodney King verdict they lasted 6 days and 55 people were killed. The Watts riots happened in 1965 and lasted 6 days and 34 people were killed.
I know people like to think that was just a Los Angeles thing but if you remember the reaction to OJ getting off it wasn't. I was in high school in Zachary at the time and I can remember a black teacher running down the hall yelling "not guilty" when the verdict was read.
I think cell phone cameras and social media make this more known when something happens. It's not that race relations are worse just that you can see it now.

Yes it is Obama's fault race relations are bad in America, not your typical white trash trump supporters who have called him every racial name in the book.
For the record Obama has done NOTHING for the black community. Not one single thing. He is the champion for the gays and transgenders.

LOL at blaming the president for racism in America.

I was a senior in high school when Obama was elected. It was a public school, approximately 30% black. I had never seen racism. The students there all had mixed groups of friends. Blacks and whites dated one another. The only time I ever heard about racial tension was from comedians. Here, everyone was equal....until the election.
The day after Obama was elected, the fights started. Blacks ambushed whites. Whites beat up blacks. The interracial dating slowed down. The friend circles became segregated. I couldn't understand what had happened or why. These kids had been in school together since kindergarten and played on the same sports teams since they were old enough to walk. They were best friends one day and bitter enemies the next over what? An election? The violence was so bad, they had to send a dozen sheriff deputies to patrol the school for weeks to stop the bloodshed. They were successful in keeping anyone else from being hospitalized. It was an eye-opening experience for sure.
It turned out to be an omen of what was to come.

"Punch back twice as hard", he said.

Id argue that race relations that weren't all that good to begin with. Obama was always a Muslim born African to many on this board solely because he was black.
Also because black people were hit harder in both the 00 and the 08 recessions.

So you think race relations didn't start to decline until Trump came in the picture a couple months ago?

fricking this. Then you realize that this board is mostly middle aged southern rednecks and swamp trash.. largely uneducated.. and then the pieces start to assemble.
Bingo.

I've been saying it for 5 years and have the DVs in the PB to prove it.
He's set race relations in this country back 60 years.

I don't understand the downvotes. I was there. That shite happened. It was horrifying. Several people I knew were hospitalized after being beaten to a bloody pulp.

I disliked black people way before Obama took office.

We elect a black man president and suddenly we are more racist than ever. I'm racist for voting for Obama in some wackos mind.

Worst in my 40 years thanks to that piece of shite president.

Short memories in this country. It seems worse right now because of social media and the internet bringing everything to your attention.
But it has been bad for years.
Some people are just now realizing how bad it is and it makes them uncomfortable, defensive, scared, and even militant.
If their had been social media during the LA riots in 92 you would think world war 3 had started.

It's sad because he should be an example of unity. Many forget that his mother is white. All they talk about is him being a black president. He's both.

His entire political career has been based off of the fact that he is a "black guy". He really sucks as a politician, but is a phenomenal community organizer. He has always sucked at being a politician and has always been a good community organizer.
He has just been completely, unimaginably bad as a president. He is weak and everything he touches is bad or corrupt
