What can I say? That was a funny joke.

The fact that you think a man who can't even unify his own party is going to fix race relations after he's already alienated two large ethnic groups is pretty damn funny

We elect a black man president and suddenly we are more racist than ever. I'm racist for voting for Obama in some wackos mind.

Wait ... I thought anyone that didn't vote for Obama was a racist the same way that anyone that doesn't vote for HRC is a male chauvinist pig?

I see the strife on TV. I read about it here. I don't see it in day to day interactions.

A lot of people forget that media is a business. And business is good when they get people all riled up by gathering and amplifying every horrible thing that's going on in the country. The news doesn't tell you about all of the great things about the world because harmony doesn't sell. War, killing, hate, that sells.

If I watch baseball highlights and didn't know any better, I'd think the game is full of home runs, spectacular catches and umpire arguments with coaches. The whole product actually isn't close to that. It's just a presentation of the most provocative moments clipped together. That's what the world news is. The world is big enough that they can fit in enough horrible crap for 30 minutes to make you think the world is going to hell in a handbasket, when in reality it's as peaceful as it's ever been in the past 40 years or so.

Like you, all I know is that my world is peaceful. A lot of people that are littering the OT with outrage would do well to find their own peace. The news is garbage as a whole. Everyone would be better served to take it in on an as-needed basis.

Depends on where you look. Media would have you thinking one way but my day to day interactions haven't changed a bit.

I'm a year younger than you.

The older folks say different. I understand the sentiment that daily lives are more intwined, but Jesus, you would think Civil War has already started. It's only in the big cities now, but collective thought is very dangerous snd coming.

Obama promised "change" and he definitely did that.

The racial unrest has changed dramatically.

He intentionally opened Pandora's Box and has no need for it to be closed and those who disagree are reviled and denigrated

Obama has been the worst thing to happen to race relations in my lifetime, complete opposite to what I hoped for when he was elected.
Goddamn shame.
