Or I expect a professional atmosphere where being told the truth by law enforcement officials is the norm. Guess that’s asking too much.

They do have reserve academies. I think EBR actually puts one on. We don’t require it but have had some guys put themselves through it. It’s more of a CYA thing imo. I worked the road for a year before every going through POST and learned more from the veteran shift supervisors than I did in a class room.

Lafayette did a reserve academy too, it was 11 months of two nights a week and two Saturday's a month. POST doesn't recognize the shorter reserve academy that everyone used to do.

I've only heard of 6 month academies. Eleven months is a long time.

The pay isn’t bad in the right place. Some departments start at 70k a year if you have a degree.

In Louisiana? State or local? Which agencies?

Apply for Customs and/or Border Patrol jobs. They are hiring but you will have to work the southern border. Good pay and you can earn lots of overtime.

Depends on the job. When I was an undergrad I got a glorious job as a security guard at a sorority house. The pay was minimum wage but it was like being a fox guarding the henhouse.
