Navarre beach is fantastic. Very quite and family friendly. If you want to do some touristy things driving through the national park to Pensacola beach is relaxing and easy.

I lived in the area in mid-2000's and that is how I remember it. Glad it's still that way!

We’ve been to Navarre the last 3 years. It’s much more laid back than GS/OB and not nearly as busy. We rent a house and like others said the beaches are very quiet. I really enjoy the drive from Navarre to Pensacola through the seashore park. It’s really relaxing to see all that undeveloped beachfront.

Holidome The Goat RIP

Stayed there two years in a row before it got blown away. The zoo brought in animals for the kids. Beach was pristine (still very nice). It was quite an oasis.

Stayed in new Spring Hill Suites last July 4 and it was very nice.

I don’t think it’s the dredging, the Seaweed and Jelly fish have always been more prevalent in Navarre than anywhere else in the area.

Oh, ok. I never stayed there until after Ivan, so I don't have a reference point.

Pick one from OB to 30a. Don’t worry about what all the other people there are doing and you’ll have a much better time

This, except that extends even further east than 30A. Carrollton Beach, Inlet Beach, heck even PCB. Water is amazing and it is going to be crowded during the summer.

If you want a bit quieter beach with no tourist traps then go to a state park in Florida or Bama and get a tent. Or, go to St. Joe.

I’ve never found it to be any different than it is in Orange Beach or Gulf Shores. There are plenty of people out there (though still much more secluded), so obviously it isn’t too bad.

If you’re looking for a quiet family friendly place, you might consider Saint George Island, Florida. The main drawback is there are no real little kid recreational activities other than the beach that I know of.

Beaches are probably the most beautiful I’ve been to and there are restaurants and a small grocery store on the island. Apalachicola, 20 minutes away, has good restaurants and a few bigger grocery stores as well as shops.

I love that place. If you think Orange beach is uncrowded, you’ll think SGI is deserted.

Heading to Navarre tomorrow. Beaches are significantly nicer than OB, but there isn’t really anything to do outside of the beach.

Yea I have been to pretty much every beach along the gulf coast from gulf shores to pcb, Navarre is by far my favorite as it is way less crowded and is quite. The main drag and everything to do is very close and they have good restaraunts nearby. Love that place.

We are going to OB this year with my parents and sister. Would rather Navarre but when you aren't booking the house/condo, not much you can do especially when my father is paying for most of it so my sisters will actually go.

That Holidome definitely was the GOAT!
First memories of a beach with clear water were there.

Two of my mother's favorite memories:

Meeting Roy Schneider at the Holidome and sitting in a Jacuzzi with braves coach Bobby Dews at the Adams Mark hotel in St Louis

Stayed at Navarre Beach for the first time at the end of April. Enjoyed it more than Orange Beach. It also has the longest pier in Florida, For $7 a day you can access the pier and do all the fishing you want....the $7 includes the fishing license. Caught a few Spanish Mackerel.
