Adele put out her first Album in America in 2011, Lauren was trying out for American Idol in 2010. She was singing in our church at 16 (that would be about 2007-2008) and pretty much sang the same style. Maybe Adele copied her?

Dearest Friend,

Before this morning I had not heard of this artist. I tend not listen to popular music of the last century. I listened to most of the songs on Look Up Child, which were largely enjoyable. Her voice is impressive and has occasion to touch my emotions, so I step back, not to allow emotions to overtake my mind and prayer. I also listened to her Christmas album, which was horrendous and hope she will dissociate from it, its profaneness, and inappropriate tone. As fame and its attendant temptations, none the least of which are pride and arrogance, fall in her lap, I hope she will cultivate her Alleluia from head to foot.

Humbly and Truthfully Yours,
TulaneLSU

quote: I’m not judging but she’s had some comments that give me pause You're pretty close to judging, though. I'll tell you she is a genuine person and I think she is really a christian but I've had the benefit of sort of seeing her grow up. I don't know her directly but my kids kind of do

I’m not judging because her walk with Christ is between her and the Lord. However if a person is a Christian and uses that platform and espouses some beliefs contradictory to the Bible, that’s a very biblical time to judge.

quote:

What was the specific thing she said? She takes to heart the scripture Proverbs 15:1 "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." so I wonder if that is what was going on. As Christians, we should be thoughtful of throwing out verbal bombs. Different situations call for different approaches

Absolutely. That’s why I went and edited what I originally stated. It was originally more harsh and I realized I wasn’t Christlike.

Her comments on homosexuality give me pause about her interpretation of the scripture.

It’s not because she went on Ellen. Ellen is an awesome human being and I love her. I’d be honored to meet her and hang out with her.

It’s this quote

quote:

“I can’t honestly answer on that, in the sense of I have too many people that I love and they are homosexuals,” Daigle told the celebrity publicist.

“I can't say one way or the other, I’m not God. When people ask questions like that, I just say, ‘Read the Bible and find out for yourself. And when you find out let me know because I’m learning too,’” she added.

You can not like what the Bible says about homosexuality. You can disagree with it. But it does say in explicit terms that it’s a sin.

I have friends and people that I love that have cheated on their wives, been greedy, been gluttonous, etc. Just because I love them doesn’t mean that what they’re doing isn’t sin and I’m supposed to let it slide if they call themselves believers.

I completely agree with the idea of the Church being hateful to homosexuals in the past. It’s a grave evil that I hope we can overcome and have reconciliation for in the world. But that doesn’t mean we get to reinterpret what we want the Bible to say because it may hurt somebody’s feelings.

ETA: I do hate that the conversation around homosexuality is always framed this way. But it’s really the only sin that people are actively trying to reinterpret. Nobody is sitting around saying “the scholars misinterpreted what the Bible says about charity, greed, murder, etc.” it’s just this one single thing they want to be different because it hurts individuals that are inclined a certain way.

What??

I liked her Christmas album. Felt like I was sitting in some small jazz bar listening to live music during Christmas time. Loved the jazz vibe to it.

Since people have asked. Lauren Daigle is the next Amy Grant.

She has a ton of personality but talks too much. Her talent is something she will always have, singing seems effortless for her and her voice fills up the room like an Adele.

Not sure about album sales, but her songs have millions and millions of YouTube views.

She’s also very pretty and young enough to still cross over to pop if she lands a hit song. Until then, it quality wholesome music.

Friend,

Jazz and Christmas music do not mingle well. Christmas is holy, hopeful, and beautiful. Jazz is lascivious, loud, and crude. Moreover, her Christmas song selection showed a cursory grasp of the available Christmas canon. To include "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" deserves the harshest of obloquies. "If the fates allow...." juxtaposed with "True God of true God, Light from Light Eternal, Lo, he shuns not the Virgin's womb; Son of the Father, begotten, not created." That placement was to me graffiti on a cathedral. Ignoring the poor selection, her voice was not suited well to the songs she chose, and perhaps her voice at this time is not a good match for Christmas songs.

The Bible is harsh. I knew a guy who was pure of heart, went to church every day, raised his children right, helped the poor, etc. He got hurt in a car wreck while on a mission trip and, when he later died, he went straight to Hell.

Why? The Bible tells us in Deuteronomy 23:1

quote:

“If a man’s testicles are crushed or his penis is cut off, he may not be admitted to the assembly of the LORD.

You may not like it, but that’s the rule.

What was the Question she was answering? I actually make the point quite often that I am not God and can be in error with regards to my understanding. When we cease to feel that way, we sort of put ourselves in God's position. We all struggle with how what the word says may mean for our loved ones or even ourselves, Unlike Lauren, we don't have to deal with publicly answering any of those questions. At 28, she is still learning. I know this because at 58 I am still learning as well.

FTR, I also have friends and family who are homosexuals and wonderful people as people go. I do also feel that people who engage in homosexual behavior are in sin. I also have loved ones who engage in gossip, which is also explicitly called out as a sin in the Bible.

No hard feeling, BTW, just a good discussion.

Popular Christian and Grammy-nominated singer Lauren Daigle couldn't say if homosexuality is a sin because there are people she loves who are homosexual and she is not God.

Daigle's response came when she was the featured guest on "The Domenick Nati Show" on iHeart radio last week. Nati, a celebrity publicist, posted the ten-minute telephone interview with Daigle to YouTube, titling the video "Lauren Daigle Doesn't Know If Homosexuality Is A Sin."

He asked Daigle, 27, who's known for the hits "How Can It Be" and "You Say," a direct question due to her recent performance on The Ellen Show, "do you feel that homosexuality is a sin?" "I can't honestly answer on that," Daigle responded. "In a sense, I have too many people that I love that they are homosexual. I don't know. I actually had a conversation with someone last night about it. I can't say one way or the other. I'm not God. So when people ask questions like that...that's what my go to is. I just say read the Bible and find out for yourself. And when you find out let me know, because I'm learning too," she continued

Full quote just so I’m not misrepresenting anything.

And to the rest of your post.

I am always open to being wrong. I fully expect to get to heaven and getting told “you were wrong about this, this, and this.” I could be wrong about my view of the Bible’s interpretation on sexuality. I’m open to being corrected there, but there’s nothing I read in the New Testament that condones it. Quite the opposite.

I am not open to the idea of him saying “those things weren’t sin because people you cared about committed them.” That’s a basic misinterpretation of the gospel.

She knows the truth. She is just afraid to say it on national TV and get ridiculed for it. If she gets ridiculed, her music falls off the map. I hate how the media always tries to ask that same question to Christian artists, athletes, actors. They know they are trying to stir the pot. How about just talk about their talents and good things they are doing?
