Growing weed in Colorado doesn’t count you fricking hippy.

Lol. Sounds like your uptight arse could use a joint.
And I may have a touch of hippie to my personality. But I hate jam bands and occasionally shower.

Well he is becoming a bottle neck. Guy has his portion but never done on time which shifts out project schedule.
So when you are done wrapping the Big Mac, the fries are not quite ready?

We have an older guy (55+) in our team who takes 5x longer than anyone else to complete a task. I know the office is aware, but nobody is willing to tell the boss. How can we hint that we need some turnover?
Why don't you go tell him straight up and see if he fires you straight up.
It could happen. I always hated it when my people tried to stab a coworker in the back. Usually meant the clock was ticking on their career with the company.
Try it and see if I am wrong.
I guess you could write it of the bathroom wall.

You do not, as a boss I know who is fast and slow at each task in my group. You are probably suck at something that old dude can whip your arse on. Not everyone is created equal, that does not mean he does not add some value. He is slower because he probably has the dude checking your “fast” work.

This is a myth. The older people I know put out tons more work than the newer college grads. They are organized, dedicated and don’t play on their phones and internet all day. They never call in sick and don’t need the constant coddling the young people seem to crave. When the old folks get much bigger bonuses the younger people don’t comprehend why they aren’t special.

It has always been my experience that the ones complaining about everyone else’s work are not very good workers themselves.

Sometimes "legacy knowledge" can be pretty valuable as in "we had the same issue 15 years ago with another project, we can adapt the same solution to this" instead of the newer guys having to re-invent the wheel.

Doesn’t sound like you’re a “team” player....

The same way the older guy would tell the boss that the younger guy lacks experience, and does not receive sound advice very well.

You sound like Pete from Mad Men when you post about work. Quit trying to get the guy who's slept with every hottie in the office since 1992, fired.

Go tell the boss. The boss is going to immediately start thinking that you are a back stabbing snitch who will try to sabotage him one day if it is advantageous to do so. People who do that once will do it again if it helps them move up in a company. Bit go ahead and learn the lesson son.

This is the most passive aggressive pussy move I have heard of in quite awhile.
You are such a scared bitch with no backbone. If you want to do it, own it like real man or stfu you weasel.

In all seriousness, I think Ill come in early tomorrow and leave a note on my boss's desk letting him know as a team we have to reevaluate the team member.
Could you be a bigger bitch about this? Legit question, not sure if its possible.
Can't discuss it upfront with the team member, can't discuss it upfront with the boss. Going in early so you can leave a note is really sad and pathetic.
ETA: I'm not old, but i'm slower than most in my position, my work is also far more thought out and detailed so they often throw me the more complex assignments. The boss knows what is going on, its his job to manage his employers and your job to do what you are asked to do. Unless managing / evaluating your "team" is in your job description then all you will do is get on your bosses bad side and be known as the guy creating problems in the office.
