It depends on the hotness of said order taker.

I tip $1 - $2 every time. I can afford to, why not. Probably helping some young person buy a drink after work.
what's an extra buck or so. I don't tip dollar bills bu if the receipt has a tip line I write in a buck or two.

No question. There is a great saying in the boatbuilding industry. Start with two million and when you have one million left quit....

I know a guy that has a restaurant and when people tip on to-go food, he puts it into his "breakage" fund. Meaning, the server and cashier never see it. It is to offset broken glasses/dishes, etc. So, I don't do it. The person I want to benefit is probably not seeing a dime.

a-hole.

a-hole? That's kind of harsh, isn't it? If I pay $25 for takeout, I need to tip for the styrofoam container it came in? Whatever.

I think he's saying the owner is an a-hole

Ah. That makes more sense.

I picked up food from the bartender. She got the 20% tip for answering the phone, typing in my order, and handing me a bag of food. That shouldn't be happening

I used to tip runners st sonic but not anymore. They always take forever to bring me the food and rarely bring me at condiments

At a regular restaurant where the waitstaff would be taking order, I'll tip them 5-10% depending on whether I go there a lot and whether my order took some effort to put together. I never tip the person who takes my order at a counter- service restaurant, while I will leave a few bucks for the person who cleans up table.

If I call in an order and go pick it up, you aren't getting a tip. Have a problem, then it sucks to suck

What an original stupid fcking thread.
Start one next about how everyone feels about tipping at sonic.
Then get real crazy and talk about oil prices and truck nutz.

Ask your buddy Tom if one should tip on take outs. That is the only true source for such big answers
