Spent $31.02'@ Outback takeout. Paid the girl 5 bucks to carry it 20 steps. Why not?

I don't. If I sit down at a restaurant I tip for the service ( waiter/waitress ) because that's who gets the tip. Takeout is just paying for food.

I use to work takeout at outback occasionally.

You're suppose to tip, we get paid the same amount as servers.

If she's hot I give her a dollar or two. Especially if it's busy because I know that struggle.

Delivery yes of course because a gratuitous service was provided.

Hell most places charge you a delivery fee now.

I don't care. You are doing less than the kid behind the McDonald's counter when I come to get my food.

No it isn't. Plates can be washed enough and re-used enough to where the cost goes to zero. The plastic or Styrofoam containers add to the cost for the owner of a takeout order.

I randomly do it when I'm not paying attention. Only like a buck or two though. Just habit I guess.

I've had a few places auto grat themselves 20% on take outs. I've been escorted out of two because I raised heck and made it known to the other patrons. frick those places

That is just a dumb practice. Where have you run into this?

Do what? Then the owner needs to adjust prices. If you tip the server then they get the money, not the owner.

No way would I tip on take out.

The only situation is if I'm picking up a lot of food for work or a party and if they go above and beyond to put together plates/napkins/etc

On slow days true.

On the weekend, it's brutal.

And that fee doesn't go to the driver.

The companies have found a way to skim from the pockets of their own employees.

It's sad

A buck or two. I can afford it and most people aren't making enough at places I go. And if I'm wearing my Bernie Tshirt, I leave $5.

And they are making like 2.25 an hour. How hard is it to throw a dollar or two? It still takes work.

I'm all for no tipping and paying them a livable wage. Raise prices, no tips.

It's hard not to leave at least a dollar. You have to tell yourself, 'no, I'm not giving this person a dollar'
