All you find on social media and the news is division and negativity. I still think it's the greatest country on earth and despite the flaws it's a great place to live. At least that's how I see it from Texas.

The US is a great country to live. Opportunity and such in terms of growth and becoming someone. However there is divide among people living here in terms of values, what they view as "right" or "wrong", and the perception of things.

Every country has its issues. Whether its certain people, situations, or events goin on. We just hear more about what goes on here than anywhere else because this is where we live and how whatever happens may potentially affect us.

If we could just keep our doors closed and only let in those we want, that'd be great.

This is still the greatest country, but the people are becoming so selfish that they are letting it slip away.

If you follow the news... everything is going to shite, the world is collapsing in on itself.

If you don't follow the news... everything is fine.

Too much complacency. There is a lack of respect for the infrastructure. A huge number of people grow up knowing only houses with plumbing and Internet and heat and fresh food, and care not about how much goddamn work goes into maintaining it all, how the supply chains operate, and how quickly it can all go south.

liberals and conservatives are equally at fault. No one thinks for them self anymore. If you're a liberal than you believe the opposite of those damn conservatives because you are liberal...if you are conservative you believe the opposite of those damn liberals because you are conservative. Obviously this is an over generalization, but for the most part I find it to be true. A lot of my beliefs are in line with conservative thinking...other beliefs are in line with liberal thinking. But no....we have to pick a side

I wish.

I'm just a guy who works hard, takes nothing for granted, and hopes to impart those lessons on my demon hellspawn.

Nah, he's just a baw who (rightly) understands that civilization is a thin veneer on the normal human condition.

Cut a major city off from power, water, and food and you'll quickly come to understand what I mean.

Some people get this. Most don't.

It’s easy to avoid the news and drama found in many social media outlets.
This country is as great as it’s ever been for normal hard working law abiding people

Pretty much this. But socially, it's the worst I've ever seen it, and it's sad.

Absolute greatest nation on earth. Flawed, but only as bad as we make it.

Our generation does need to step up though. We need to use what resources we have to create positive actions in environments we can control.

We’re all humans with blinking eyes and beating hearts. We need to pull together instead of pushing each other away.
