Hold to to it. You may not care about it but your future generations will. My grandfather kept s a lot of documents and knick-knacks that belonged to him, his parents, and grandparents. I've gone through it all and scanned most of it. Thousands of pictures and documents. Now my children and grandchldren will have things that belonged to their great-great-great-great grandparents on down. Not too many people have that chance. It's family history.

I don't keep a lot of that stuff for me, I keep it so if I die early my parents and sister have something to remember me by.

That being said, I don't keep everything. A lot of what I do keep is put into digital format onto my Google drive.

Make digital copies, but keep the hard copies too. Opening up an external hard drive doesn't quite have the same panache as stumbling across an old photo.

Dude. How could you throw away a yearbook? If not for you, keep it for your kids. I used to love seeing old photos of my mom and Dad at my grandparents’ houses.

I condensed my childhood from birth until age 30 when I got married into one Rubbermaid container and pitched the rest. I kept 1 yearbook not 5 and culled pictures, awards, letters and am happy with it. I have my kindergarten class picture that has 2 very successful businessmen, 4 attorneys, 4 doctors, 2 pro baseball players and 1 current SEC athletic director. I am still in touch with all of them today 50 plus years later. You just keep what you would like. That one makes me smile and so I kept it. My silk shirt and gold chain picture got pitched.
