Since most of the OT has moved to Houston i know you guys have been inside of the greenspoint area and North katy what were yall's first impression of what texans consider a ''hood''

The ghettos of Houston are better than the nice areas of Nola

More apartment complexes around there than old unpainted houses.

Have been in Katy almost a decade. If there's a bad part of town, I wouldn't even know where to go to find it. I know there's crime.

Houston thugs are pansies compared to NOLA thugs.

are you comparing it to small ghettos in New Orleans or New Orleans East?

As I understand it, the worst parts of Houston are where the Katrina transplants landed.

Just as shitty but they make up less of a percentage of the city because Houston is so huge. Unlike Nola where it varies every few blocks, you can be a good 30+ minutes from the hood in parts of Houston and most of the of suburbs. Also, Mexican hoods exist. They're not as violent as your typical southern hoods but they still have a similar level of trashiness.

Seems to be true honestly mexicans commit alot of other crimes that don't involve murder/shooting so the neighborhoods aren't complete warzones but still rough

I rode through one the other day on my bike. Took a bike path from downtown going southwest and just as i crossed under I-45 it got really bad very fast. Luckily it was during the day. I was the only white person around and i got a lot of looks. Several people that were walking around seemed aimless and zombie-like. The bike path going through there was very new and nice. I passed what was obviously a stash house which was kinda neat to see in person. Felt like i was on The Wire. I just gave them a confident nod hoping they would think i was undercover po-po. The houses were completely falling apart and its hard to imagine some people were still living in them.
What was weird is that there were a lot of kids in very nice school uniforms whom i guess were walking from the bus stop home. Was tough to see such nice looking school kids knowing they had to go home to such a misery filled environment. I even passed by a black college that was adjacent to the hood. I never thought a place of higher learning would submerge itself in such a place. I would think the ones who could get away, would want to get away.
Its nice that they are keeping it a black community its just a shame that the ones who make it out with money arent doing more to buy up property and transform the community. I imagine they are living in the suburbs too.

Lots of charter schools and even public schools have uniforms now. Not sure if it’s district wide now. But yeah, I noticed that recently that they look different walking to the stops and whatnot.

Greenspoint
Ohh, Gunspoint?
Lovely area. Much closer to downtown than The Woodlands, Clear Lake or Katy and the same vibe. You should check it out sometime.

Seen it myself aside from the abandoned mall and obvious sketchy characters the area genuinely doesnt look that bad compared to the mall city (similar to greenspoint with a bunch of apartments) section of baton rouge. The apartments were kept up pretty decently actually.

You took a bike path southwest from downtown and you found a black college? Pretty impressive considering there’s not one down there.
There are also no bike trails that cross 45 south of downtown. Almost like you made it all up.

Bruh. Texas Southern is literally right there.

I remember going to work in downtown Houston the first week of my job and commenting on how nice the apartments by our office was and how I'd love to live there for the convenience. I was informed those were section 8 housing.
Has anyone ever confused New Orleans projects for a place they'd like to live?

I’ve been in the worst neighborhoods of New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Houston.
There is no comparison. It is much worse in the bad neighborhoods of New Orleans and Baton Rouge. In those neighborhoods, drug dealers will get in the car with you if you forget to lock your doors. They assume that if you’re white in their neighborhoods you are there to buy drugs. When I lived and worked there, they would swarm your car. But they would say they are standing on the street corner because they are waiting for jobs.
In Houston, when you see people standing on a street corner they too will say they are waiting for jobs. But then you’ll see an extended cab pickup pull up, and there’s a swarm to get in the truck bed...because they are actually about to go work construction jobs.
If asked to do a Naked and Afraid episode in either Houston’s worst neighborhood or either of those Louisiana cities, I’m choosing Houston all day, every day.

Why are you a liar?
Texas Southern University is a public historically black university in Houston, Texas. The university is one of the largest and most comprehensive HBCUs in the nation with over 10,000 students enrolled and over 100 academic programs. Wikipedia.

Theres almost certainly many bike paths that cross I-45 so thats a very strange thing to say. But there is most certainly a very nice one that runs just south of 8th wonder then crosses over I-45 going in the direction of TSU. The fact that you tried to argue this shows what a complete fricking retard of a human being you are.

It’s more due south than east or west.
