Then why do they get better insurance rates?

Bc men drive more and thus are exposed to more risk, next question.

I drive with both hands

I find that I have more control when I do this. I used to only use one hand but I was typically more of an unsafe driver then too.

I'm not sure what you mean. You don't use both hands on the steering wheel? You're just going gangster style with one hand at the top of the wheel?

You mean like 90% of the police patrollers you see?!?!!

It's called racing, b.

The next auto you buy needs more power. Then you'll understand.

10 and 2 is what you're taught to do.

I always wondered why they teach this when 9 & 3 is actually the most correct way

10 & 2 was taught before airbags became standard equipment.

4 & 8 is the proper positions to hold the steering wheel to avoid broken bones in the thumb or wrist when the airbag deploys.

I have personal experience and two surgeries as proof of 10 & 2 being the wrong way to hold onto the steering wheel.

Hell you can control a 40 ton 18 wheeler with just a pinky finger 95% of the time.

But the quickest way to learn the reason for 2 hands on the wheel is a steer tire blowout

As for this, while I don't doubt this is a true statistic, I'd like to see the two compared similar driving conditions

I've noticed the majority of women do this. I wonder if that's what makes them such shitty drivers

I thought it was how close they sit to the steering wheel that caused them to be shitty drivers.

I think the stat is men are involved in more auto accidents/claims. Makes perfect sense. More men are driving. If I compiled a list of the worst driving I've ever witnessed, I don't think a male driver would crack the top 100.

eta. all women aren't bad drivers. I dated a chick who could parallel park with this best of them. Gave me a half chub every time.

The American Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association, which is a trade group for driving instructors, says in addition to driving with your hands at 9 and 3, you should also keep a firm, yet gentle grip. Use your fingers instead of the palms of your hands and don t wrap your thumbs around the wheel. Finally, don t turn the wheel while gripping it from inside the rim.

10-2 will break some hands/wrists. Also, don't grip it from inside the rim boys. Yikes

Driving with 2 hands is so uncomfortable to me. Left hand on top of the wheel, right hand on the arm rest. When I drive, I like to be relaxed, listening to some good music, and enjoying the ride to whereever I'm going.

On the other hand if it's night time, and Im slightly tired, I will drive with two hands simply because it's less comfortable and keeps me alot more alert.

I rest my hand (just one) at the bottom of the wheel...?
