Biting them back only teaches them three things:
1. Biting hurts.
2. Biting is an acceptable thing to do. Why else would daddy and mommy do it?
3. The bigger, stronger person is to be feared because they can hurt you.
Don't bite your fricking kid. Be a responsible parent instead.

My 2 year old (now 3) son bit me one time. Popped him in the mouth hard and quickly right after like a half slap. Told him next time he does that to anyone I'll pop him harder.

If your child laughs at you when you try to discipline him, you may be in for a long road.
I'd try slapping him on the hand every time he does it or a fly swatter on his bare legs. Don't go all Adrian Peterson on him, but let him know it's not a joke.

My wife bit back. Not super hard, just made a point. I'm not going to argue the morality or psychological ramifications of doing that, but it did work.

You might be right but I give my kids more credit than that. They understood the point right away and never did it again.

My son use to bite, only way we could break him out of it was to bite him back, they learn real quick that shite hurts.

Humans are animals at their core. Just bite the fricker back hard. Really hard. And then shake the shite out of him. Then don't feed him for a few days. He'll learn something. What were we talking about?
