Honest question, do you think the OT is representative of the average Louisiana population?
This is the same place that thinks $100k household income is the norm.

23 then 24 a few months later. Had no predictive value for future academic success.

I can’t believe that either. I majored in Electrical Engineering. Very complex material. Would be hard to believe a non intelligent person could pull that off.
Someone with average intelligence and good work ethic could.
What do you think the ACT measures? Nothing?

Took it twice: 28 both times. 32+-1 Science, Math and Reading both times and a 20/21 in English.

Never took it. Went back to college at 23 after working a few years. Did some entry/placement test. I finished college with a 3.9 gpa though. Would have been higher, but I got one C when I took a dual enrollment course while i was still in highschool.

That’s why so many people graduate in electrical engineering. I also passed the FE so that solidifies I actually grasped the material.

Some people live in a bubble. If I didn't have conversations with my wife about her "privileged upbringing" I'm sure she would think that. Hell, she still might think that's average

I never met anyone who took the ACT until I moved to Louisiana. All the colleges I applied to required an SAT score regardless if you took the ACT or not.

22 first time, 30 second time. No studying or anything; guess I just got a lot of good guesses the second round.

We do this every time this thread comes up, but the ACT measures what you know in various categories. A typical test in school measures what you can memorize.

I want you to sit down, because this might blow your mind.
Not everyone wants to become an engineer.

Sounds awful.

34 in 7th.
36 junior year.
Was pretty disappointed I only improved 2 points in 4 years.

My point is I knew a lot of people that scored 28 plus on their ACT and dropped out of engineering because they couldn’t hack it. ACT means nothing.

And my point is that they couldn't hack it because they didn't try hard enough, not because they weren't intelligent.
ETA: the majority of people who drop out of school do so because of lack of effort, not lack of intelligence.

Very true. I've got alot of appreciation for my situation thanks to my wife. She comes from incredibly humble roots, and much of her family still operates that way.

I disagree. In engineering it’s because it’s too hard for some people to grasp. Sure some might drop out for lack of effort but most people I know dropped out of engineering but still got some other bull shite degree.
