I got a 28. It would have been a lot higher if i knew how to do math AT ALL. Once I started college I had to take two math classes before I could even attempt college algebra

It just means you were dumb in high school or freeze up like a mofo under the clock

Not true about freezing up. Like I said I passed the FE exam which is probably statistically way harder than the ACT.

My point is I knew a lot of people that scored 28 plus on their ACT and dropped out of engineering because they couldn’t hack it. ACT means nothing.

Sigh.

They're both important for different reasons. I was a horrific student with zero work ethic, but I did well on standardized tests. My higher ACT and mediocre high school GPA painted that picture well.

My sister had the highest GPA in our family and the lowest ACT score. She was a great student, a hard worker, but she had a difficult time retaining information.

Hell, if I had to choose, give me someone who has a serviceable ACT and a higher GPA over the alternative, but the ACT is still a good to great barometer of intelligence.

I disagree. In engineering it’s because it’s too hard for some people to grasp.

I know engineering is the hardest field of study. Believe me, every engineer tells me this

For real though, you think if those people put in the time and effort to learn whatever they couldn't "grasp", they would never learn it? Their minds just aren't capable? Unless they have some sort learning disability, I just don't agree with that.

ETA: I seriously had an EE friend tell me that his degree was "better" than my wife's doctorate, and he was borderline mad at me because his degree was "better" than mine, but I had a "better" job than him

Only an engineer does stupid shite like comparing degrees to determine whose degree is better.

26 first time, 24 second time, 29 the third time.

Scored a 32 on Science and Reading Comp sections on the last try.

Honest question, do you think the OT is representative of the average Louisiana population?

No. The OT is fricking stupid.

If you answer alternating “B” and “C”, you’ll make an 11 and not burn up valuable brain cells in the process.

This is if “B” is for the odd ones. If “C” is the odd ones, it goes up to a a 13.

Basically me as a student. I’ve always been fairly intelligent, but I was the laziest student on earth. I never studied for tests and rarely did any homework that wasn’t a major assignment...and even then I waited until the absolute last minute.

Yes I truly believe that. Especially goes for an engineering field in which what you are studying you can’t physically see. Some people just are not capable of understanding the material.

Somehow the results of your poll won’t be near the average for Louisiana

It's a terrible sample size.

Who do you think is more inclined to click on a thread titled "How did you do on the ACT?"

People who did poorly or people who did well?

The funny thing is that if he were really smart, he'd be a ChemE.
