How did we become so inconsiderate and selfish so quickly?

Blaring music at the gas station, no thank you for holding open doors, talking loud on the phone in line, littering, cursing in polite conversation, no please and thank you, ma’am and sir, etc.
Seems like half the population are just angry, bitter and just don’t give a shite anymore.

Surprisingly, this is pretty rare. Usually everyone I hold the door open for says thanks. Of course, you have the few inconsiderate assholes but they come once every blue moon.
I guess it could be a regional thing as well.

I was in a doctor’s waiting room this afternoon with around eight other people. A guy who appeared to be in his late 30’s comes in with what I assume was his wife. They sit down, and he immediately pulls up some podcast or something on his phone and is listening to it at a volume that everyone in the waiting room can hear. I mean, he was sitting right across from a television in the lobby that was on, but on mute.
