We never used the AC during the day, no big deal with the older house designs with high sealings and attic fans.

Let’s first define ancestors. I had no idea what an A/C was till I was a teen in the 60’s. We had window fans with high ceilings. Somehow we survived :-)

Experience here- you don’t miss what you never had.

In a way I admire them. People went to church in full suits and dresses with no A/C.
Pretty amazing

They didn't. They're all dead.

My pawpaw was NEVER hot. Hed sweat some, but he was never miserable in the heat. When you grow up looking at a mule's arse with nothing but some shade and a nasty pond to jump in, lack of AC aint all that bad. We're soft now.

lived in West Laville without a/c for 3 years! Fans and showers!
My dorm was a box fan wind tunnel. Took me years to sleep in a quiet room after that.

They were tougher stock.
Period.

mosquitoes
That’s what would get me. Houses were made for airflow, but that also means easier for mosquitoes to get in and feast on you while sleeping.
I can sleep through practically anything, but for some reason one small mosquito buzzing in my ear always wakes me immediately.

People planted weeping willow trees in their yards.
My Dad always called them natures air conditioners.

I got to where I would crank the window unit down about 10 minutes before I’d shower, then just run into the bedroom when I got out.
Probably on your tippy toes with your cock shoved between your legs you liberal piece of shite

A better question is how did people live in LSU dorms without AC into the 2000s?
My brother stayed at Highland dorm in 1998. No A/C, but they had a radiator for winter.
Honestly I don’t know how they did it in August-September and again from March-May.

2 ways: Their brains had no concept of what is was like to live with AC. They where a much harder people than the people of today

I agree with the you don’t miss what you didn’t have concept. There is definitely something to that. You also have to realize there was literally a big line that people did not travel below in many parts.

my MIL is 90, she rarely turns her AC on. during power outages like hurricanes and shite, she just toughs it out.

You can't miss what you never had. It's easier to live without something if you've never experienced it.

the first two cars i owned didn't have AC. summers in south louisiana were a lot of fun.

but what else made it tough was the silence in the house without the occasional hum of a fan or AC unit.
The ringing in your ears after hours of prolonged silence would become almost painful.
Can’t stand sleeping in silence. I’m not as much temperature sensitive but I prefer at least a slight breeze.
