Ignoring the fact that Permanent Vacation is one of the worst rock records of the 80's, I blame the 1990 single "What It Takes" for the current state of Aerosmith. It's a decent song but after they had a hit with that they moved into specializing in shitty power ballads for fat teenage girls and middle age cat ladies. That's pretty much their whole game now.
