And I’ve never seen either one in my life

They’re just light colored male black widdows.

Seriously, how hard is it for people to just Google?

Sure it’s not a Wolf spider?
I just killed one of those bitches not 5 minutes ago on the back porch. All of her spawn scattered like a shotgun blast.

The brown recluses eat most of them

I’ve killed as many as 26 in one night on my back patio. Most nights there would be around 6-8. Kill’em with fire, then a night or two later there would be another 6-8. But at times there would be a dozen or two. Lots of egg sacs on the underside of patio chairs too. Sprayed the edges of my patio with some stuff the OB recommended and I rarely see them anymore.

The last one I seen was at my old house five years ago, MF posted up inside my mail box and dead center to bite if I would have put my hand in without looking...
Bright orange hour glass, but the badass pic died with my phone... carburetor cleaned it and smashed it good!

I may have seen them when I was in my teens many years ago. Haven't seen any for many years.
Black Widow Latrodectus mactans
Brown Widow Latrodectus geometricus
They are related. I see Black Widows often enough. They like to hide in cracks and crevasses in my garage or around piles of wood. I don't like them at all. No soft spot in my heart for either of them. I'll spare a cottonmouth but torch a Black/Brown Widow.

"A few wasps can sting and paralyze, before eating the Black Widow. She is also a favorite food of the Praying Mantis"
get you some praying mantis egg sacks and hatch them. they're voracious little things

Okay, how many of you have ever been bitten by a black or brown widow? Any spider?

Had a shitload of black widows when our neighborhood was being built. Now it seems they have been replaced by brown widows. Seems like they come and go. Won't see any for a while then boom everywhere

I wasn't aware that there was a hybrid cross breed of the Brown Recluse and Black Widow spiders. Must be a new species.
