But man, we ignore that there are people out there that need to understand that it's not your "right" to drive 95mph unimpeded as well.
Both are equally shitty drivers.

Democrats think they belong in the left lane. Just like in politics they are just slowing everyone else down that has goals to achieve

After we finally get people to realize what the left lane is for, we'll have to start the new campaign on how to use cruise control. That way we won't have to pass the same person 14 times during one road trip.
My God, this! I just went to Orlando with the family a few weeks ago. Left at 11 pm so the kids would be sleeping most the way. There was one knucklehead from New Orleans all the way to the Bama rest stop who would not let me go 85 on cruise control (in the right lane, mind you.) He would get in front of me and then drop down to slower than me. I passed him and got back in the right lane going 85. After a few miles, here comes Dale Jr, couldn't stand the fact that I was passing him up because you know, we're not really driving at midnight but actually in a NASCAR race. He would pass me up, get back in the right lane. Drop down to 75/80 after a mile or so. Rinse and repeat all the way through two states.

I'd like to have a speaker installed under the hood that I can jump on and say, "get outta the left lane a-hole!"

We need a billboard and tc ad campaign.
Advertise during the Kardashians and Empire to get word out.
I'd also ban trucks from the left lane completely when the road is more than two lanes wide.
Trucks staying in the left lane from clearview to the 610 merge past Franklin are a huge problem with 610 trafffic.
Cab drivers are another bad group.

Where you in a pack of speeding cars?
When I'm in a pack I try and switch up who is in the lead.
So I may hold 90, take point. Run say fifteen miles, then fall back a few seconds behind the tail of the pack, then reassume point when I feel the speed we are at is too low.

Good idea.
I really really really want a loudspeaker that yells "blinker a-hole" at people who turn without one.

was the speed limit 70, though? if i'm doing 75 in a 75 in the left lane i'm not moving over and slowing down to let somebody doing 85 pass. they can wait until i pass the trucks and then i'll move over.

quote:In fairness, even if it were 70, the post you replied to seemed to make it clear that this dude was just cruising in the left lane at 75, not good. Those people suck, I think we all agree on that.

I do agree with your other point, that's what I was hinting at in my initial post.
Example: Speed limit is 70, there's 4-5 cars doing about 70 in the right lane, i get over to the left lane to pass them doing 75-80. AFTER I get in the left lane, i can see in my rearview mirror some other dude then get in the left lane behind me, then speeds to catch me and then rides my arse as if I did something wrong. It's those people who are just as bad as those who cruise in the left lane. I'm going near 80, I'm going to pass the cars that are going slower, then I'll get over. If I can comfortably squeeze in, I don't mind slowing down and getting over, but if you immediately ride my arse, all bets are off and I'm not going out of my way to help you get around me.
People have this weird notion that they can go as fast as they want even in average traffic, shite doesn't work like that. The left lane is for passing, that works both ways. If I'm passing cars, i'm not going to speed up to 95mph just to appease you, nor will I slow down to 55mph to get back in the right lane to appease you. I'll either finish passing the cars I intended to then hop back to the right lane or i'll slow down minimally to near the speed limit to get over if possible, but again, not if the person behind me is being an arse hole about it.

While I hate a-hole doing 50 in the left lane, the law doesn't cover someone "passing" doing more than the speed limit.
Some people are mad because someone is driving 75 which is 5 over the max speed in LA because they want to do 85. That's not how it works.
I would hope an officer would ticket both a-hole one for improper lane use and the other for speeding

" State Law - Left Lane For Passing Only" signs don't seem to work, people are idiots and should get tickets.

The next infrastructure bill should include matching funds when law enforcement right tickets for sitting in the left lane.

Change the law to say that the right lane is to be used for passing only. Problem will resolve itself.
Not a bad point.
Presumably everyone in this thread follows the traffic laws and moves over to the left lane to pass and back to the right lane once the pass is completed. Traffic laws not withstanding, is it really so difficult to move to the right lane to pass a slower car when you were going to do it anyway?
To be clear, I'm not talking about the people who go 70 in the left lane next to a vehicle going 70 in the right lane. I'm talking about the people who are hanging out in the left lane on a relatively empty interstate.

And the German police will absolutely pull you over for left-land driving.
Hell ya they will. With a quickness. And that ticket is HUGE too.
I miss driving in Germany.
Anyway, I've actually had a conversation with a few left lane douchebags. Just about every one said "I drive in the left lane so I don't have to worry about traffic merging on the right when I'm talking on the phone."
It was all I could do to not throw them out the window.

If you can move over, then you are no longer passing.
