this is a popular money grab tactic by the FHP, a cop will pull someone over and his wingman pulls in behind him watching to see if anyone fails to clear the lane closest to the "emergency vehicles," when he sees an easy mark, off he goes and pulls them over to write them up for not clearing the lane, meanwhile his partner has finished writing up the other driver and pulls in behind wingman and repeats, they work their way up and down the highway until either bored or quota is met, they love to do this at rush hour so it is harder to clear the lane

Imagine thinking any cop is smart enough to actually practice introspection

When I crossed the border from GA to SC, there were cops on the first overpass with radar guns pointed down on the traffic crossing the border. So shitty.
I've seen it on the Louisiana side of the Texas border. They're making and they're having fun with the radar gun.

What about it? If you don't understand the reason behind that you're an idiot.
And even if you do.

It's not about enforcement. It's about public safety.
Which I am willing to bet some study conducted shows it's detrimental to have a mass collection of vehicles rolling 70-80mph to come to a complete halt to let a fricking goober high school drop out collect his 125 bucks.
Edit: Not all cops are High School dropouts. Just the retarded ones who don't have this forward thought process.

one of my buddies is a state trooper and I brought this up to him. He responded with "it only creates an unsafe situation because other people are driving unsafely so they should be pulled over as well"

Well I'm sure that you wouldn't be laughing as he wrote you a ticket.

the power trip[ of a license to steal your money.
same goes for illegal searches. you get pulled over for speeding, he has no right to but the cop asks to search your car, if you say no that gives him the right to search under the excuse if you had nothing to hide you would consent. if you dont give up your right not to be searched then that action forfeits your right to not be searched.
im not anti cop but the regular practice of unreasonable searches from routine traffic stops is pathetic and just a ruse of searching without cause in hopes to find a crime

I imagine it's not a matter of taking himself seriously or not. It's probably more of a matter of doing what you're told to do or losing your job.

There should be laws that make it illegal to pull over people for traffic violations during peak rush hour times.
So no speed limits during rush hour...what could go wrong?

Typically rush hour means bumper to bumper or one car length.
And I hate to break the news to you baw but here on the tollways, everybody pushes 5-15 over.

If they would ticket half the jackasses using exit lanes as passing lanes it would have a huge impact on rush hour traffic flow. I'd be willing to bet a few motorcycle cops could make their monthly quota in just an hour from the Airline I-12 exit alone.

New stealth cars area bitch!

Even worse than the Causeway cops are the yo-yo drivers that go 75 and then slow down to 50 when they approach the crossovers, as though slowing down to 15 under the speed limit atones for their going 75 between the crossovers.
Those frickers should be banned from driving the Causeway and forced to go through Slidell and NOLA East to get to the north/south shore.
Yo-yo drivers are infinitely more of a public hazard than simple speeders.

No. It's a laser gun.
Laser speed guns have the two lenses. One shoots the laser and the other reads the bounce back. And the lenses are glass as the laser is optical. It also has the aiming scope on top.
Radar guns just have the one big opaque lens on the front. The lens doesn't have to be glass as the radar waves pass through.
Google it and you will clearly see the difference. Hell the image the OP put in the post pops up in the search under Laser Speed Gun.
ETA: I know this because I have used both to clock pitchers at baseball games for media reports. Not because I am the police.

The cop presence on the Louisiana side of the LA/TX border let’s you know what kind of government you are dealing with immediately.

Looks like an LTI Ultralyte which is a LIDAR gun (aka laser gun).

Yeah, frick these new cars. My radar detector still sniffs them out though. Laser is the real killer which is what is shown in the OP. Radar detector + Waze FTW! Also have to watch for planes over the basin. Those pigs will track you from the air. On clear days be sure to look up every now and then. See a plane flying parallel to the bridge, slow down, they’ll be waiting at the Ramah exit.
