How awesome do you think the first domesticated dogs were?

Think about it, you would literally own a wolf that listens to you and is loyal to you.
Think about all the cool shite your dog does, then imagine if he was an actual wolf!

Probably a sick, pregnant bitch. Her prole hung around, those that were docile stayed and bred, and it went from there.

Cosmos did an awesome portion of an episode on this. The first "domesticated" dogs wouldn't be all that awesome. They were simply wolves that didn't attack humans while eating your leftovers.

I think you would probably have something about like this that would follow you around trying to steal some scraps of food that you gathered...

Pretty sure that's not what OP means by domesticated but I remember that. Probably very accurate as well. That was the beginning of the relationship

Okay okay, not the first domesticated dogs, the second ones, after they worked out all the kinks!

There is a Dutch breed that is half-wolf, half-German Shepherd. Supposed to be unbelievably smart, strong, and loyal. Unfortunately, I don't think they are exported.

There was probably a learning curve in the domestication process. Supposedly my parents had a half feral dog before I was born or when I was really young. Supposed to have been sweet, but it had a wild side that would show up. It would get hard to control.
