Growing up my neighbors had two half-wolf, half-huskies. They were giant and they were intimidating as hell.
I was scared to mow the grass along their fence-line when they were out. They were big enough they probably could have jumped the fence flat-footed if they wanted.

I would reckon the lives of the first domesticated dogs were extremely challenging. I would suspect they were under a great deal of ridicule and open hostility from wild dogs. I don't suspect there was much support for the domesticated dogs from other domesticated dogs who probably felt these usurpers were trying to move in on their turf. Roll over. Play dead. What a poser. Sell out mfers. Can't be trusted those first domesticated dogs. Their turning their backs on a life of fleas and freedom for the occasional milkbone. Pretty complicated decision for the early dog community. Great thread.

I would be willing to bet the process of domestication was laden with a significant amount of bumps in the road. Several instances of dogs forgetting they were domesticated and maybe bitting someones face off. Bro, what are you doing? We aint killing these mfers no mo. We were suppossed to be rolling over for leftovers. Oh you're right. My bad.

Didn't even know this existed until 3-4 days ago. Saw one as a patient. A little high strung but overall well behaved.
