Around $125 last couple months. Outside of Summer, I'm under the century mark.

Ours doesn't get over $100. We usually keep our thermostat in between 69-74 unless we are gone for a few days.
1400 sq ft
Insulated at roof (attic stays much cooler)
Energy efficient windows and everything else

Damn, some of yall either have terribly insulated houses or really high energy rates.

Something is wrong. That's too high.
Your house must have shite for Windows and insulation.

No not your in particular. I just replied to your post since it was the last one in the thread. Yours isn't far off of mine.

New attic insulation and AC tune up brought my bills last summer from $220 down to $150 this summer. I live in a 2,000 sq ft house.
Very similar to this, except I had a new H/VAC installed. ($200 to ~$125 from same time last year) Going with a 20-SEER/variable and R-60 attic insulation has turned my home into a meat locker. I did not mention this in the other A/C threads though, as I did not think the experts in those would believe that it is possible to maintain 68 degrees in the daytime without it continually running (it is possible).

It's a combination of both in my case. I live in a house that is approaching 100 years old, has plaster and lath interior walls with no insulation in any of the upstairs walls and only blown in insulation in the attic.
The ground floor was gutted after Katrina and I insulated all walls and in between the 1st and 2nd floor and it cools off much quicker with a single 220 window unit.
Also, my windows are all old wood sash, single pane windows, and they are all about 6 ft. tall by 3 ft. wide on the 2nd floor and there's 16 of them upstairs.
Oh, and my utility company is Entergy and they are not known for cheap rates.

Impressive
What was the cost to upgrade all that
Curious for a payout estimate
thinking about changes to my house
I have a 5 ton and 3200 sq feet but two story

My original unit was too small(was only 3 tons) and there were not enough drop downs to properly cool my ~2000 sq ft. The original batten insulation proved inadequate also. The 4-ton unit and additional ducts ran roughly $9500. The R-60 about $4000. The adage that money can not buy happiness may be true, but it can damn sure buy comfort.
The variable speed is worth it. Though this may change in the extreme heat of the summer, it seldom operates on all 4 tons, especially since the insolation was completed.

thanks
I really need to look into more insulation
But I have been in my house for close to thirty years so you can only imagine what my attic looks like with old stuff from raising three kids holiday stuff etc
But you have inspired me
I may try just will wait till winter before tackling attic clean out and insulation

Best of luck to you. I did not store much in my attic before so it was not a big problem. But yes, the insolation will make a world of difference. Window treatments that help block heat are a great investment also.

My last bill was $81.00 1800 sq ft house.. But I am a cheap arse when it comes to the AC..Never below 75 at night and turn it off at bed time..Keep it at 83 during the day. My next bill should be around $120.00. And no I am not sweating in the house.
