Has anyone had to move anything big from Houston to Baton Rouge?

Someone who is downsizing has a piano that the wife wants - anyone ever use any company to transport something big?

All pianos are not created equal, many are not worth the effort it takes to throw them away. Pianos are very heavy and a pain to move, unless this piano is a higher end brand and not a low cost student model, It is likely you could buy a very nice used piano for less money than it would cost to move it.

Piano moving is an expensive pain in the butt. You're looking at close to $1k. The only reason I did it is because it's a family heirloom.

In almost all cases you'd come out ahead selling and buying another

We moved a Sauter concert grand. $1k was very close. It included reassembly. It will need retuning also.

They also lost the bench. It took almost a year to settle the $700 claim.

Call O'Neill's Music in Baton Rouge. Ask for Raffe (spelling?) O'Neill. I have a baby grand that flooded in August and wasn't sure if I should pay the money to move, restore, store and move back. Raffe was able to tell me what the piano was worth, cost of fixing, placing in storage and moving back. Also gave me options of him valuing it and donating to charity for tax write off if I thought better option. Has piano moving contacts and can probably answer your questions.

Whenever I need one of my pianos moved, I usually just make my butlers do it. I have my children spit on them while they carry it. Unfortunately, I can only afford two butlers at a time, so my children end up with a severe case of drymouth.
