Straight through Houston. I’m shocked he only said 1.5 hours.

Still half the time it takes to get home from an LSU game living a few miles from the stadium

Is this similar to what was happening with the Chicago Bears?

not exactly. Texans will still play at NRG on the weekends,

the employees and players will just show up to work and practice at the new facility and not have to go to NRG except for gameday stuff.

Bears are losing the whole stadium and team to another state.

This is like the Cowboys having their stadium in Arlington and Practice Facilities/HQ in Frisco.

You're going to be able to walk under Peek Road to the nicest restaurants, bars, shops in NW Harris County. Construction will be a headache, no way around that.

When I was married I lived in Richmond but worked downtown, 37 miles each way. Took me an hour and a quarter each way to work, and that's without the stupidity of stadium traffic.

Traffic

What made me giggle is you said you live in Waller and refer to the loop (99 Grand Parkway). It’s more inter-galactic ring than “loop” (610).

First time I lived in Houston, “the loop” was 610. Beltway 8 wasn’t quite one yet.

Your great grand kids will be in Waco saying keep traffic in their loop I suppose.

if we went to a game at NRG it would take an hour and a half both ways.

There will of course be outlier Sundays with traffic and once you get to the actual stadium it takes forever to park, but 1.5 hours one way is definitely not the norm. I commute from 288 and highway 6 to the Heights area every afternoon after work and it takes an hour and fifteen minutes max and that's with heavy rush hour traffic.

Damn, you were here before Beltway 8 was complete. Were people still riding horses then?

To be fair, I don’t know that any of the loops have ever actually been complete. At least the fact that there’s construction every single time I drive on one of them tells me that.

There’s been some rumblings about building a new stadium. NRG (going back to Reliant) couldn’t be in a worse location.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they build a new stadium closer to Cypress/The Woodlands in the next 3-5 years.

The mcnairs are too cheap. They lease at reliant is next to nothing relative to the cost of a new stadium and the voters aren't going to give them a new stadium

The only way it happens is if the NFL does what they did to the bears and basically force them into it so that the teams valuation goes up when the league wants to expand.

That is a massive win-win for everyone involved within the organization.

The Loop is still considered 610 and 99 is rereferred to just as that. I too remember when they opened the beltway 8 section between 59 and I-10 and the toll booth operators. They have already started planning for another loop outside of 99.

Unfortunately I know .

I bought 10acres down a dead end road and built a house about 10 years ago. As of now I can still shoot deer from my porch.
I always figured we’d be overrun at some point. But, I’d like it to be a long damn time from now.

Nah when I said loop I was referring to 610.

But, I honestly do my best to stay outside of beltway 8 as much as possible, outside of 99 is even better
