I am way too suspicious these days but my first thought was the teen has a drug or gambling problem that caught up with him.

inside job
My first thought, especially since it was torched.

Another example of how democrats ruin everything.

If this happened in NOLA, the thread would be 100 pages already.
Democrat cities are out of control, yet these imbeciles continue to be elected.
If this happened in New Orleans the teenager would have been shot.

Either an inside job, or the uber driver was in on it. Even if the kid had a weapon, the perps had the advantage as soon as he opened the door and reached down to get his food

The damage to the vehicle was $130,000,

but thankfully, it was insured.

This is why I pop smoke and toss a couple flashbangs in the shrubs before I let my two Anatolian shepherds out to retrieve my delivery.

WTF is wrong with you? What does a super rich teen have to gain by having his mom and dads shite stolen and a truck burned?
Maybe junior had a bit of a cocaine problem, needed to get himself out of a jam, and doesn't care about his parents who are never home and probably don't care all that much about him either?

Ah the classic liberal piece of shite news writers adding “but dey got insurance” line

Was this in Tanglewood? Wow
Posted on 6/22/22 at 11:37 pm to Dire Wolf
This must be Tanglewood which has an avg listing of over $2mm and many homes above $5mm

Tanglewood's pricy, but it's not like a gated community or anything. It's in the city with lots of major thru streets and close to the freeway(s).

Curious to know what kind of truck.
A Ford Super Duty F-350 cost about $100K, with some upgrades I could see it going out the door for $130K.

Yea Houston is like that. Tanglewood def a target bc of thru streets. River oaks isnt gated neither are the mansions in Hunters Creek/Piney Point besides personal property gates.

The houses by my work easily average 15M-20M off Memorial/610

Gloves, Masks, full body cover. But you could still tell the race. They probably watched that house for a while and knew the pattern of when the kid had food delivered. Not that hard to do. Planned in advance.

That’s a successful score. Do you think the perps had any idea they’d get $180k in loot, plus a $130k getaway vehicle? Good as a bank robbery with much lower risk.
How much insurance on the stuff? How much did he still owe on his $130,000 burned up truck?
How hard did the kid get hit?

The teen's dad, Dr. Ruchdi Barakats, says his son was careful and waited for the driver to leave before he opened the front door.
According to the surveillance timestamp, the teen waits nearly two minutes before picking up the food. But seconds after opening the door, two gunmen wearing hoodies, masks, and gloves shoved their way into the house.
Inside job.
The teen either owed someone $$ or they get a cut.
