I like to say it’s not the best to visit, but it’s a very *livable* city
That's quite a downgrade from proclaiming it the "greatest American city" just 5 minutes ago.

Top quality Eye Candy running around the Buffalo Bayou Trails, Houston has at least that going for it.

Speaking 145 languages, Houston’s metropolitan area is the most diverse in the country. Due in no small part to this, more Houstonians eat out than any other city’s residents. Houston has the 5th tallest skyline in North America. It has the big 3 professional sports franchises along with an MLS team. One of the busiest ports in the country, hub of aeospace operations, the “Wall Street” of the energy industry, etcetera. Let the downvotes rain if they must. I just want to share some discourse.

Everything Houston does, New York does significantly better and you can get around the city easily. There is no amount of money that could entice me to sit in Houston traffic on a daily basis.

Katy Trail destroys the Buffalo Bayou talent. I didn’t believe it until I saw it. It’s just stupid. I now run, and I never run

Huh. I was going to argue it isn’t the best because it isn’t livable. I guess we have different definitions

Cities I would live in before Houston:
NYC
Boston
Portland, ME
Columbus
Indianapolis
Nashville
Charlotte
Raleigh
Atlanta
Miami
Denver
Dallas
Austin
Bozeman, MT
Seattle
SF
LA
San Diego
Phoenix
Las Vegas

In other words, Houston sucks. I’m sure I forgot other cities.

Houston is not a shite hole. But it is also not the greatest American city. There are some very nice areas to live and things to do there. You could live in far worse places. I’m convinced people make these threads so people can pile on and insult these places

Op is clearly trolling

Houston is a great place. I love and miss that city, but there are better cities out there for everyone’s taste. Mine happened to be Dallas. Who knows, I may end up back in Houston one day. Either way though, I’d be happy.

I try to deny it but it’s a much better place to live than New Orleans. I’m just not sure I could deal with the traffic.

Atlanta is Houston in basically everything you describe, but it's actually aesthetically sort of neat and much closer (2-4 hours driving distance) to other aesthetically neat places and places one might want to actually hang out.

Ergo Atlanta > Houston. (ETA, and for the record, I'm not even trying to argue that Atlanta is "the greatest American city" - just trying to show you're pretty far off in that regard.)

frick the Falcons, though, of course.
