Having lived in BR, nola, laffy, bossier, and shreveport:

Shreveport. Just bought a house here actually. Br and nola are pure cess pools. Never liked houston, although I do like dallas and san antonio.

Laffy would be number 2

Houston.

I'm here for work right now and I really like it. I've lived in BR and it puts that to shame, and I liked living in BR during my time there. But I lived in BR pre-Katrina.

Houston is cleaner than NO, or the part I'm staying.

None of the above. Moved to Seattle 6 months ago after 33 years in BR...never looked back. This is about as close to "God's Country" as you can get.

Mississippi is humid too. Let's not act like Louisiana is the capital of humid.

Definitely NOT New Orleans - have lived in the others and each has its good and bad points.

Does Houston have a pedestrian friendly area for nightlife? I have always thought it was the poster child for Southern Urban Sprawl with no true downtown nightlife. I only visit H-town 1-2 times a year so I very well could be mistaken.

Houston gets a bad rap at times due to it being so damn big and sprawled out creating an enormous haven for strip malls, but it also doesn't get enough credit for the 'urban' type living that can be afforded in certain sections inside the 610loop.

It still isn't Incredibly dense, but much much much better than the cookie-cutter type living that can be had outward of the Sam Houston.

Ftr I'm not an expert on Houston although I did stay in Rice Village and then Katy for brief moments in time.

WTF dude?!, incredibly ignorant statement! The quality of life is great up here..good place to raise a Fam & excellent schools but I guess it depends what you're looking for. They call NW La "Sportsmans Paradise" for a reason...there are tons of hunting/fishing/water sport options! I live in close proximity to 5 lakes! I can also drive a couple hours & be in prime hiking/camping country in Arky. Plus they just opened the 3rd local craft beer brewery close to me so I'm pretty happy. Its not the most exciting place but if I want big city, I can drive 3 hours to Dallas. I'm assuming that you haven't spent any time up here except driving through.

Baton Rouge is full of protestants? That's a new one on me.

While not as much as it used to be, the Protestant factions used to dominate city politics. Have you ever heard of City Father Ossie Brown? Look back at Baton Rouge's history, especially in the 80's and early 90's and see how the anti-fun. Baptists completely dismantled Baton Rouge's music scene, frat scene, party scene, and bar scene while completely sabotaging Catfish Town and the downtown renewal movement.

I thought 'they' called Louisiana in general 'sportsman's paradise'

And I'd go a step further and say it's considered 'Sportsman's Paradise' due to the All-World salt water fishing in the delta.

Not kicking NLa's fishing, but it's wayyyyy down the list of places fisherman from all over the globe plan trips to to experience. I could be wrong, but the fishing is probably on par with the same fishing you would find in S.Arkansas, N.Ms, W.Tenn, N.Al, E.Tx right?

Well it kinda is.... Around the 50s-60s, you had a flood of Protestants move to the area from the likes of western Ms, Northern La, and the likes

You got us on fishing, South LA has the coast. Can't trump that. We got some of the better White Perch/Bass spots but I concede on the fishing only if all coon asses quit coming to North LA to kill our deer.

Lol! Love the comparisons....I never said my area had world class fishing but definitely have numerous fresh water options. I prefer coastal marsh fishing as well but I'm pretty sure we have much better hunting up here.

I have lived in all 4 and Houston is easily the best choice among them.

Way more to do, see, eat, and drink. NOLA is second best but the cities's shitty infrastructure can be a real drag sometimes. Also a house in the city is somehow still on par with one in Houston price-wise.

I'll admit I'm a bit ignorant on the nuances of NLa hunting.

What is the best hunting, is it whitetail deer, turkey, ducks?

I'm honestly curious what standsout that makes NWLa be considered THE Sportsman's Paradise opposed to other micro-regions in the SEC territory?

New Orleans - if I had the money to live uptown, or in garden district
N LA - nela delta region bc it's better than the piney woods.
Baton Rouge
Houston
N LA - nwla
