That looks like a normal photo of a college kid after living away from his parents for 6 months. I never was into drugs but I’d go in and out of haircuts and clean/ bum looking stages in college.
I would assume if this was a drug dealer thing there would have been evidence of a kidnapping like a struggle, it wouldn’t look like a single car accident there would be evidence of a wreck, etc? Right? I’m assuming they found his foot prints walking away by himself?
My guess is this was his first semester and he didn’t do well or had decided to tell his parents it wasn’t for him and he’s off living without the balls to talk to them.

Maybe but San Marcos to Houston is pretty straight forward. You take highway 80 all the way to I-10. I understand getting off for a bathroom break, but he was way the hell out of the way which makes another poster's suggestion of a drug deal more plausible.

Exactly, my son goes to TXST and we live in Katy, it's a very easy drive. I don't see how anyone who has been going there gets lost on the way home.

This story needs more attention. Apparently when they found his car with his wallet and phone in it they found the clothes he was wearing scattered a couple hundred yards back in the road. I mean the clothes he was wearing in the car, not a suitcase full of clothes. This is something evil.

This is really weird. Maybe he was drugged out or having a pychotic episode, and ran from the scene, took off his clothes and then was picked up by a creep? It would take a weird set of events to get a car wrecked, a man taken his clothes off or having them removed 100 yards away, then disappearing into then air.
What the hell else could have happened?

Copeland and Kent Landry are now hoping investigators can get that answer with a geofence warrant. Which Copeland explained "is basically a box around the vehicle accident and we can ask, ‘tell us what other cell phones were in that area at that time?’"
Kent Landry added, "[the accident scene is] the middle of nowhere. In that hour window, it may very well be possible that there’s not another person in that box except Jason and whoever did whatever they did. Whoever else is involved in this case."

Yeah, but as you come into Luling from San Marcos you have to make that jog (right hand turn) at the light to stay on Hwy 80. Even the signage at that intersection is awkward. It would be weird but not inconceivable to miss that turn and continue straight for a few miles which is where they found his abandoned car. Add in that it was mid-nite, he turned off Waze and was on snapchat, and maybe smoked a J leaving San Marcos?
He realizes he missed a turn, goes to turn around and then....shite, I got nothin after that. Dropped some acid? Seizure? Aliens?
Just pointing out its not as odd as it seems to get on the road in which they located his abandoned car
