I wasn’t paying attention and was walking in a very gentrified area. That I didn’t know super well.

I was listening to a podcast and just ignoring things and then noticed I was in an infamous housing project. Chain link fences 15 feet tall and and security cameras every 15 feet. Honestly looked like a fricking prison.

Started thinking, how fricked up would it to be raised in this environment. I didn’t feel safe in the 7 minutes it took me to walk through. People live in this environment their entire lives.

Just kinda sad and there has to be a better way.

The better way is to get a job, work hard at it and do not do things you can't afford (kids, drugs, etc). Unfortunately the farther you go down the social ladder the less people are inclined to look beyond their immediate gratification. These people are then likely to teach this self-defeating behavior to their progeny who then teach it to theirs, etc.

Aside from that there is also that social handouts aren't on a graduated scale. If you make too much (which is often not enough to support a family on) then you lose all of your benefits, it's very literally a penalization for trying to get off of public assistance.

Case in point: a friend's husband died, leaving her as the lone breadwinner for she and their two very young children (on a teacher's salary in a very rural parish). She contacted social services and was told she could get about as much as she was making at her job, but she would need to quit her job. (she did not quit her job)

You’ve lived a sheltered life. The projects are this way because of how the folks who live there behave.

Every time somebody with common sense tries to raze these places, liberals prevent it from happening because they ALL vote democrat.

Yeah, there is. Intelligence is inherited. The adults don't have it. Neuter them. Check the kids. If they're stupid. Neuter them.

Dogs live in the moment. So do stupid people.

What is sad? That people who can't afford children continue to have them? Or that the state provides free services such as housing for those too dysfunctional to provide for themselves?

What might this better way be?

It’s sad for the children who get raised in a fricked up environment. That’s all I’m saying
