That's really why this is concentrated in the church. I've never met a normal person that I thought, they might become a priest. Even the priest from my childhood always seemed a bit weird to me (nice man who was never accused and actually left our parish to "fix" a parish that was a victim of this). I'm not an active catholic. I don't blame Catholicism itself, but also dont condone the way it was handled by the administration of the church.

The leadership of the Roman catholic church is morally bankrupt. How any true Christian can willfully support them at this point is baffling.

They should have ended the practice of not allowing them to marry decades ago. It's just not natural.

I don't understand how cases of Catholic priests having sexual relationships with nuns isn't a thing.
Catholics live their lives on the ability to sin, confess, & be forgiven. So why aren't more priests just tapping nuns?

It is really disturbing that there have been dioceses all over the country that have released LISTS of priest accused of sexual abuse.
I wasn't exactly sure what dioceses have released names, I knew of Boston and I knew there were other areas so I googled to see for sure and just on the first page, other than the Houma-Thibodaux Diocese there are:
Charlotte
L.A.
Dioceses in West Virginia
Kansas City
There really should be more of a backlash over this. Also, it makes you think.. Is there anything else that they have covered up or do other religions have situations they have covered up, that would be a big deal if it ever got out?

The protestant churches did not organize a world wide cover up sanctioned by the highest levels of church leadership to protect and hide sexual predators. Because of that protestant church members, would be more likely to know what their clergy were doing, so probably not.

They even created a searchable database by state, City and diocese. Also concerning is these are just the priest that got caught, how many more are still out there? Don't understand why the members will not take a stand, and quit pouring money into this organization.

While it would open the priesthood to a pool of normal heterosexual men, it has nothing to do with priests being pedophiles.

I don't know any protestant church organized in such a manner that their preachers could be protected like the Catholics protected these men.
It was absolutely an institutional problem inside the Church.
(A Baptist preacher doing such a thing since the local congregation hires him and fires would be lucky to physically survive such an allegation as child abuse I suspect. As soon as one suspects something may become public I suspect he moves quickly out of town.)
