Not now, not after what you went through.
It’s ok. Purgatory is great this time of year.

Never was a Catholic. Funny the gay jokes are coming from someone who hangs out on a golf course.

Fourteen28, I highly doubt you would have the wherewithal nor the gall to say that to BRgetthenet’s face.

When are you Catholics going to nut up and hang these priests in the streets? Your church covers up the abuse of your children and you all just overlook it
As a Catholic that’s not really practicing this is an absurdly ignorant statement. Why do people stay in the state of Louisiana with all of its issues? People outside of the USA ask similar questions to Americans as a whole, how can you stand being an American?
Now certainly child abuse and many of these things that have happened recently in the Catholic Church are about as bad as it gets. They are horrific. But the idea there is no good, no good meaning, and nothing for some people to try their best to rebuild properly is ignorant.
What do you recommend then? Instead of staying true to the good you have and working on the bad, you recommend everyone just flee to the greener pasture?

Read up on Bella Dodd. She said in the 1940’s that the Communist party inundated the church with homosexual plants to disrupt not only the church but America too. All you anti Catholics are pretty much anti American and u don’t even know it. Heathens. And your government schools stink to high heaven.

Where in my post did I suggest people stop practicing Catholicism? Far from it indeed I respect the Catholic Churches rich traditions and its teachings. However the Catholic Church has been covering up the systematic rape of little boys and girls by its priests for decades worldwide. Instead of excommunicating and turning these priests over to the proper authorities in their respective countries they have instead shuffled them around like a deck of cards and then act surprised when that rotten card shows itself again.
But Catholics just feign outrage over this and still donate to and support the rotten criminals that compromise the Catholic Churches hierarchy. The last pope resigned because the abuse was so widespread that he felt a younger pope would have a better chance at making actual change and yet no changes were made. Kids are still raped, priests are still protected by the church and Catholics still support the church pretending like the systematic abuse isn’t as bad as it is.
If I found out my child had been raped and the church had covered it up and the proper authorities wouldn’t do shite, you can bet your arse I would string up that priest by his ankles and instill some vigilante justice on him and any cardinal or bishop that helped cover his arse.
Look at some of the apologists in this thread going on about they knew a certain priest as a good person, just because they thought he was good doesn’t mean he wasn’t raping someone else’s child. Catholics refuse to admit that there is a deep rooted problem of sexual abuse in their church and instead turn a blind eye to it hoping someone else will solve it. Be the change you wish to see in the world.

Lol, re read that and tell me you aren’t all over the place.
Look I agree for the most part. But at the same time, what exactly do you propose a good Catholic do? March and picket?
I can honestly say I’ve known probably 30 priests and none very well, plenty of them sketchy but I’ve never seen or heard of anything sketchy.
You say stop giving money, well that stops the good and the bad.
So if you have a good priest and are there attending mass for good reasons, what do you propose is a realistic thing for the average person to do?

I guess public schools should be shut down as well. They covered this shite up from the beginning.
You do know that if anyone in public schools becomes aware of, or has child abuse reported to them, and they fail to report it, they are subject to termination and charges themselves, correct?

Outing molesters is relatively new, and sickeningly rare for the Catholic Church

Molesters are not created by organizations, molesters are drawn to groups that work with kids.
Especially groups like the Catholic Church, which covers up the crimes, buys the silence of the victim and their family, denying the victim affirmation and justice, and transfers child abusers to new congregations, putting more children at risk. And they are still doing it.

If some of the good has to stop to filter out the bad then so be it. The church has huge coffers already they would survive if people stopped donating to them. I’m saying that if Catholics need to stop giving the church money, lobby their local officials to actually lock up these pedophile priests and straight up protest outside of any cardinals or bishops homes that covered this shite up. They need to make the church feel the pain for any actual change to happen. If you want to make your voice heard you have to hit them where it hurts the most, in their pockets then move onto other means.

The Catholic Church does as a whole, but not each individual church or even diocese. Lol. I mean there’s plenty of individual churches that are borderline bankrupt regularly, especially ones that do something like support a school.
I agree, more should be done. I haven’t done shite. That doesn’t mean I accept or condone the behavior.
If something doesn’t affect you directly, then its very easy to make other things in your life more important.

Wow. Yeah, if you have to stop the good to make sure kids aren’t being fricked by their priest, that’s the price the Catholic Church has to pay. How can anyone think otherwise?
Folks, you can read it in the responses in this thread and others. Lots of these Catholics are so indoctrinated in their church and religion that the serial abuse of children just doesn’t matter if it means that harm comes to the church. Sick people. It’s not going to stop. They care more about their church, it’s image, and preserving the power it wields, than making sure kids aren’t raped.

The irony of the Church keeping their huge assets for themselves and not dispersing them to struggling churches to prop them up should be reason enough for people to stop supporting the church.
Also I just want to say I’m enjoying this conversation and thanks for being respectful throughout it.
