I'm sure more than Chicago PD would be involved as well.
FBI was involved.
Side note, 3 Chicago cops were also just shot sitting in their car. Non life threatening injuries, but hey, when you tell an entire section of our country that all cops are evil and hunting your race, you kind of are asking for this type of thing to happen.
"Our police officers are under siege. They're outmanned and they're outgunned."

Three law enforcement officers in Chicago were shot on the city's South Side on the heels of a violent holiday weekend that racked up shootings in the triple digits.
The officers, two ATF Chicago agents and one Chicago Police Department officer, were driving in the Morgan Park neighborhood, near an on-ramp to Interstate 57, just before 6 a.m. when they were fired upon by another vehicle, Chicago Police Superintendent David O'Neal Brown told reporters Wednesday morning.

I'm not a lifelong rebublican because the GOP is neocon bullshite. But I'm a lifelong 2A supporter.
If you don't think this is suspicious or alarming, you're blind to reality.
I never said I want him thrown in jail or have his rights taken away, I just said that people defending this as normal behavior are out of their fricking minds. And at the very least you people should be highly critical him for his horrific gun safety practices. Gives a bad name to legal gun owners everywhere.

Wrong, its stupid to have a loaded rifle in a hotel.
However, that doesn't make it suspicious. You idiots are so caught up in the extremes you cannot fathom the middle ground. There's a shite load of territory between dumbass loading a rifle in a hotel to mass killer.

I'm not panicking
I'm not saying the violence in Chicago shouldn't be talked about more. I'm not saying he should go to jail. I'm not even saying his rights should be taken.
I'm saying this is bizarre and alarming behavior to any sane person. That's it.

Roger you need to chill on the insults to intelligence while asking why an unattended weapon wasn't aiming itself at a crowd of people.
The Vegas shooter had his shite in carry bags until he was ready to unleash hell.
And just to be clear, can you tell me how this should have been handled?

I'm not calling you an idiot FWIW. Have a great day man.
I'm out, we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Probably found guns laying on a large window opening and being the very average person, decided it was suspicious.
In reality, hes a dumbass who left a loaded gun in his hotel, and he soys are scared to death.

Given all of that, I'm skeptical of a story like this that seems to fit the narrative so perfectly at the very time it would be most needed to divert attention away from the horrendous situation in the city.
Biden is arriving in Chicago at this very moment to meet with Lightfoot about gun violence, too.
I don't know what this guy from Iowa was doing, but the timing of this is mighty convenient.

Chicago Police recovered the rifle with a live round in the chamber, a handgun and several loaded rifle magazines on the window sill of Room 1208.
I guess they forgot to plant the klan hood and 8x10 framed picture of Trump in the room, too.

GOTCHA LIBTARD! A gun can't point itself at people, so this guy dindu nuffin wrong!

Totally legal and not suspicious at all. Many people carry loaded rifles into their hotel rooms overlooking crowded events, which is the purpose of the second amendment.

He should be let go because other people got shot in Chicago too, and he didn't shoot anyone

No one has said the gun was "aimed at people" except two people in this thread who obviously can't read.

Why do you keep trying to argue intent? He wasn't charged with intent (yet), he was charged with the gun crimes they could pin on him. Nothing more, nothing less.
But regardless, in my mind, yes, it's incredibly suspicious for a multitude of reasons already mentioned in this thread. And to answer a question from a few pages ago, yes, I would also find it incredibly suspicious if I saw anyone walking down my street in Chicago with a rifle or handgun at the ready.

Hope you don't mean me with this.
Because all I said was in was on a window sill overlooking a crowd.

We do a great job of treating it, we do a shitty job of getting the right people into help.
But what can we do? Force people into incarceration at mental hospitals?

So should the maid have alerted anyone?
