Are you saying his motives were known prior to the shooting?

They weren't. Nothing in his history even suggested it.

But you, being clairvoyant know all.

have been on hunting trips where we would stay in hotels, the rooms would look like national guard armories when we'd leave the room to go eat or whatever

Me and all my homies routinely cross state lines with multiple guns and book a solo hotel room overlooking crowded events. We also leave those multiple guns loaded on the windowsill. Not one bit fishy. I thought this was AMERICA

If the argument here is "you can't stop a mass shooting from happening because it's not a mass shooting until someone gets shot" then I really don't know what to say. You've got me there, Einstein.

I'm saying that motives are discovered during the investigations that happen following. Where he was, who he talked to and what he said, what he emailed or did online, which chat rooms he was in, what searches he made, etc etc etc

Why are yall so stupidly dramatic about this? The guy wasn't charged with anything to do with a mass shooting. He was charged with the crimes he 100% committed.
I’m good with that. The problem is the presumption that he had plans on a mass shooting based on having a rifle and perhaps some handguns possibly near a window. By that standard 10s of millions of law-abiding americans are “suspicious”at any given time.

police seeing a semi-automatic rifle with a high-powered scope and laser left “in a very suspicious position”

It sounds super sketchy, but this is ambiguous. We’re gonna need more than just a statement.

When traveling I have brought loaded firearms into hotels so they don’t get stolen out of my vehicle. I had an AK with 4 mags that was in a hotel with me when I was driving to go see a friend and have a range day with him.

So how is this any different than a traffic cop who thinks a car might be running drugs or guns finding something like a broken tail light to be able to pull them over and do a more thorough inspection? It's not.

I have huge issues with people who see fairly common events and turn into drama queens, and assume something nefarious when there is no evidence otherwise to suggest

This is why you get so much shite here. How often is this a fairly common event in a nice Chicago hotel? There is all sorts of evidence to “suggest” it’s possibly nefarious. There’s also evidence to suggest he’s just some retard with a gun. Stop being an idiot and trying to do this whole internet contrarian routine

Surely you aren't dumb enough to compare this to Vegas.

1 rifle vs 20 rifles.

5 magazines vs hundreds of magazines.

Zero shots fired vs 1000s of shots fired.

Zero dead bodies vs 50+ dead bodies.

This entire story is clickbait to distract from the gang banging shite hole that Chicago has become because certain Black men have no respect for the law or human life.

What’s illegal about this? When I travel, I also bring my guns into the hotel. Now I don’t chamber them nor set them up on a tripod but I don’t see what’s illegal here.

So, the day after this guy was arrested you would expect us to immediately tap him as a mass killer?

frick that. Please avoid jury duty.

To the urban bubble dwellers. For much of America, when ammo is being horded, having dozens of rounds and firearms in a room is fairly normal behavior.

Yet you have decided based on Extremely limited information that this is tragic. The drama queens.

I don't believe I find drama in many of these stories, but this one threw up red flags for me. I have no issue with how this was handled and an investigation into this guy.

If he's just a guy who likes to carry his weapons when he travels without his family on major holidays and happened to want a nice view of the festivities, give him his fine and slap on the wrist and move on.

In the Fall, every hotel room around here will be full of guns and ammo.

Exactly. That’s why we need to take guns away from everyone.

If you can use a strawman, so can I.

I have too. Usually didn't leave them out in plain sight though. We need more information on this situation.

That's a story that makes sense and is verifiable. I'm sure the FBI will get this guy's story and we'll all have a better picture.

If he was planning to head out of the city the next day to meet a buddy for some hunting (I don't even know what's in season right now)...my level of suspicion would go down. If we find out he lied to the wife and said he was going to be in Des Moines having beers with a college buddy or his search history turns up some nefarious stuff, well, that's a different story.

But at face value, with what we know, suspicious as frick.

Doesn't sound very nefarious.

The simplest explanation is a dude who fricked up bringing guns to a progressive city.

This has nothing to do with my point in that post. You must be too smart to have recognized that.

No it’s not. And that is exactly the point.
