In Memphis Space X Data Center project.

Allegedly

Best I can tell it goes down like this.

Darryl Cuttell owns a company called Darana Hybrid. It is an Ohio based electrical contractor. Space X hires Darana Hybrid to manage its SpaceX Data Center in Southaven, MS. Just across the street from Memphis, TN.

Total project cost is somewhere around $20 billion.

Darana is supposed to act as a GC and manage subs for a 10% fee. But that's not what they did. They basically monkeyed with the books to show themselves self performing the work so they double or triple (or more) the costs.

This Cuttell character who owns Darana is also a big drag strip racer. He uses the SpaceX money to buy the International Hot Rod Association. And the Memphis International Raceway.

Somewhere along the way SpaceX asks for paperwork and an audit on all of the expenses. Cuttell refuses. SpaceX begins crawling his arse and discovers that he overcharged them by up to $800 million.

Cuttell tries to place a lien on the project for unpaid invoices. SpaceX demands money back. Everyone sues everyones. And as the saying goes: We're off to the races!

I’ll go out on a big limb here and say Elon has better attorneys.

If he had good attorneys to begin with, they would have told him not to hire a drag strip racer to manage a $20 billion project.

The other is a redneck from OH

Running construction. Not the data center itself.

This might come as a shock, but I bet a few rednecks are building data centers in LA and Texas

I'm surprised it got that far with a Musk owned business. We've done some work with Tesla and there are 10 levels of oversight for each step of the process. I'm told it's like that across all of those companies, but that doesn't seem to be true.

Turns a two week process into 2 months, but hey, the check clears.

A couple years ago i would have agreed but Elon's be pretty hands off with Tesla lately. I used to have to get his direct approval for a lot of the things i did with them but now he lets his managers manage more.

What if that drag strip racer bought the IHRA, (International Hot Rod Association) and a BUNCH of race tracks IHRA Buys 7 Tracks all for the sole purpose of closing down these tracks and turning them into data centers? Most of these are out in the middle of nowhere, and a few hundred acres.

BTW, this has been the rumor in the racing world for the last 2 years.

Chicken needs to add a shade of color to indicate it's just a guacho post.

Sometimes I'll be cracking my knuckles ready to blow up what some dumb motherfricker just said but see it's just a guach post. At ease knuckles, at ease.

I see 2 or 3 a day.

About 5% of the cars on the road are Teslas.

Subcontractors were reputable ones. They are starting to sue the contractor as well. The drag racing social media pages are abuzz with IHRA stiffing vendors and cancelling races.

Prediction: This one winds up in bankruptcy court and at some point, there might be a fraud investigation.
